Live at home?

On and off since I graduated. Just moved back home full time because I was working in Michigan from April through September and my housing was paid for by the team. Basically from September 2012 through September 2013 I was away.

Last week marked 2 years since I graduated college. I still haven't gotten a full-time job. But then again, things work a lot different in the broadcasting field.

I was in that field for 10 years after college (graduated SIU in '91). getting out of it was the best move I could have made......jobs are scarce and getting scarcer......and the market is flooded with people looking to get any job.

Still...it was an awesome 10 years bouncing around Southern Illinois....St. Louis.....Nashville......

I've spent the past few hours trying to apple to various baseball jobs across the country, unfortunately most are only offering internships, and no entry-level positions.

Yeah... you might want to think about applying to something... realistic.

Which lucky Soxtalker won the Mega Millions?

Yesterday the evening news suggested that ticket sales for this were running about $11 million a minute. That prompted me to do the math in a new way. Projected that back 3 days in time, assumed that the sale rate had multiplied by a factor of 2 late in the sales and dropped off overnight...came up with an estimate that the revenue from this single contest for $300 million dollars was somewhere in the range of $10 to $20 billion, give or take.

In other words, the return here is on the order of 5% or lower. The lottery's take is 95%.

I decided to go visit a casino instead. The only thing with a greater likelihood of having your money stolen is putting it in a bank.

When you include all the non-jackpot prizes, a lottery's return is generally 50%. That is why the jackpot is always listed as "estimated" because the jackpot is calculated after final ticket sales and non-jackpot payouts are finalized in order to get the return to exactly 50%.

Slot machines generally have a much better return of 80-90%. Of course, the lottery is the only way to get a potential return of 200+ million times your investment, so that is why it thrives despite the low odds.

As long as the kids are named first, I'm ok with it.

That's how ours is. Dog is listed last and he only made a picture on the back. My wife has had him for almost 12 years, so it basically does feel like he is family. I don't think it will make people assume that we perceive our 1 year old daughter like a pet or vice versa.

Plus, the poor pooch fell down the stairs again Sunday. Getting more and more worried that he won't be around for next year's Christmas card. :(

Thank you, and thank you.

But I have pretty much 0 chance of moving out and surviving. My mom just hit me with the "so now you pay all your own bills, and you are now $20K in student debt" yesterday, so that was cool. I'm not what you call a very hard worker. Maybe that's not the right word, because I work hard when I am at work, I just hate working. I've had a job since I was 16, but it's usually been 15-20 hours a week. I'm very cheap and frugle, so it's never been an issue for me making only like $100 a week. But now that I have all my own bills to pay instead of just a portion of them, I realize I need to start working 30+ hours a week now just to stay afloat. I know my parents will help me out if I need it, but I feel guilty enough being the only one of my brothers to go away to college at at a University. My 2 older brothers stayed home and commuted to school where tuition was only like $2500 a semester or something cheap like that. They were both able to work throughout college and pay their own bills, I never did (maybe could have, but my major does not lend itself to a side job).

Needless to say, I got heaps of stress right now. I've spent the past few hours trying to apple to various baseball jobs across the country, unfortunately most are only offering internships, and no entry-level positions.

Let me tell you a story about a boy...

Seriously, I finished school and went to a single semester of grad school before I figured out it sucks balls. SO I moved home much like yourself. I then "looked around" for work for awhile to no avail because I didnt know what I wanted to do. I eventually found and tried out for a position as a ski instructor at Keystone mountain in Summit county colorado. I told my parents farewell and they replied, how are you going to pay for the move, the apt, the equipment and your day to day before they pay you?

My mom then shoved a CDW application in front of me and I knew it would be easy to get the job and I would make a little money before finally taking off for ski season.

10+ years later I am still selling technology (CDW was the worst I stayed there for 365 days exactly) and I love my current position and especially the pay. I guess my point is you never know where you are going to land so just take it day by day, work hard with what you get at the time and it will work itself out.

I know a bunch of people who try to shove their pets down everyone's throats as if they're children. And speaking of children, some people go WAY overboard with that as well. It's fine to post pictures and stuff about them, but some people basically become that child. They stop being their own personality, an individual. I just don't care that much about your kid, nobody else does.

So you are saying you loved "Christmas Jammies"?

That is exactly why I didn't pursue broadcasting after college. I loved/love it, but it is next to impossible to make a living on. I admire you guys for trying. I just got lucky to have broadcasting pop up again for me in my hometown.

I loved how people thought that was just some creative family. Its a family of actors who professionally do promotional films, and just made you watch an advertisement for their new company.

100% true. Looking back, I would have never imagined life turning out the way that it has.

I made it through about 30 seconds before gagging and turning it off.

I love dogs so maybe its not annoying to me, but what takes the cake is that stupid f***ing elf thing. I dont give a f*** you bought an elf doll and now its hanging off your toilet seat.

Deep breath. It's for the kids to run around and find the next day, it's a game for them to make Xmas fun (and a trick to get them to behave better).

Yeah, but that doesnt mean its Facebook material. People share entirely too much bulls*** on that thing these days. It's like showing me what crap meal you made for dinner, I just dont care. I think I've hid 85 percent of my friend list.

OK, that part I can agree with. It's another reason I don't even bother to have Facebook.

I agree completely. We do the elf thing with our kids in December, and they love it, but we don't say a single thing about it on Facebook.

And yes, anybody that posts pictures of food on plates gets hidden from my news feed.

Its good for keeping in touch with people you dont have "phone relationships" with. However its become horrific with the type of information people share on there. To the oversharer talking about their depression or job loss or something else that should not be on the internet to the person who posts pictures EVERY SINGLE night of what they made for dinner. How about the "candles lit, dinner made, wine in hand, anbd my HUBBY!!! Life is so good." Well b****, if it was so good you wouldnt be looking for other people's approval on the internet

/end rant

We never "announced" us having a baby on facebook and people were actually angry that we didnt.

Same with vacation pictures. I remember my family pulling out a slide projector to show that s*** and it was a nightmare. Now people post HUNDREDS of pics of their vacation on the internet.
