I also appreciate when bandwagon fans lecture people on who they can and can't root for...

Says the grown man who acts like a 13-year old who got dissed by the girl he likes in favor of the more popular, bigger, better-looking 16-year old whenever the Heat are mentioned.

So, I don't like MJ as a person (though my grandma did see him film a Hanes ad in Chicago and thought he was handsome), but Steve's sentence is kind of unfair. While it is terribly selfish to gamble to the point of a family member in trouble, it's not like he wanted his father to die if that scenario would be true.

Whoa dude, you read way too much into my post. I have never, no ever will, blamed MJ for his father's death.

I was just making a crack about how there's always something "worse" people could do. I could have gone with rape, but, that'd be too far even for me!

Wait. Who's bandwagon here? J4L would die if the Bulls won another championship, as would I. Being pissed doesn't make him any less of a fan.

Jrue Holiday has a stress fracture in his leg and is out for a long time. Another point guard bites the dust.

Ah crap. Seriously. There goes 1st place. First I lose Rose and now this. Thank god I have Isiah Thomas left. I have zero PG play now.

Oh, nvm.

Anyway, no one will ever replace Jordan culturally. Do you all realize the only reason Chicago is known outside of North America is because of Jordan? Say you are from Chicago and the only thing people know is "Chicago bulls! Michael Jordan!" If you are lucky they know Al Capone.

Beside that the world knows LA for hollywood and New York for being New f'n York.

Now that that's closed, I want to bring up something:

Sometimes it seems like media driven narratives become reality just because people talk about it so much. I believe Sam Smith tried to do this for 12 years with KG to the Bulls but it never took.

Which leads me to right now. Something that will not go away nationally despite making no sense and not a peep locally is this:

Melo to Bulls

Thibs to Knicks.

It's. not. stopping.

Is there more there than I realize? Is this just national media laziness?

Haha Bmags..I was coming here to tell you all that I've decided Melo is going to sign with the Bulls. They will find a way to clear the additional cap room to be able to sign him as a FA. Melo, despite all the b****ing in New York, is clearly a tremendous scorer. He's never played for a coach who stressed defense. Not saying Bulls are champions with him, but that is a nice looking roster, especially if you can do it and find a way to bring our Euro over plus somehow end up with a lotto pick in this years draft. I think that would be a core that could potentially win.

I also look at it as Melo, playing with guys like Rose, Noah, Butler (and coached by Thibbs) would might actually get his head on straight from a defensive perspective.

The Thibs part wouldn't surprise me. There has been animosity between Thibs and the front office for a while now. It has been out there. Throw the Deng trade on top of that, it isn't that hard to imagine.

It's interesting. Problematic for the bulls that despite knowing they have atrocious outside scoring, have tried to plug that gap with "3pt scoring man". And we keep swapping them out. You are only going to make marginal gains with your outside shooting by adding one 6th man 3pt specialist. They can be easily taken out of the game.

But when you are talking about adding a SF with legitimate range and a PF with legitimate range (some assumption with Mirotic) it becomes an interesting lineup. But defense is going to take a huge hit. It seems like Knicks have tried to improve their achilles of no d effort by signing A D effort guy.

Basketball team chemistry is complicated.

The Bulls have a President of Player operations who punched out a coach. Their medical staff nearly killed a player. The GM fired the coaches favorite assistant for talking s*** at a local charity event.

They are not a well run organization.

They do have a good mascot.

Of the big market franchises they're top 3. I'd only put LA and Boston in front of them.

Ya, there's stories coming out all over the place now how they're not really viewed in the most positive light.

Exactly. It isn't hard to imagine that, plus the Thibs contract situations, that he wouldn't mind getting out.

All of these points are very true.

I honestly do not buy at all the idea that "Defense is going to take a huge hit" as long as the Bulls don't change coaches. He'll figure that out. Maybe if you like put Hinrich at Center it wouldn't work...but otherwise.

When Noah and Butler are on those team and you are coached by Thibbs, you should have a good defense. There is also no reason Carmelo can't play D and in a system where people all come together it could be brilliant. Plus, it isn't like Boozer is a great player.

Exactly. And you'd still have Noah and Butler who are very good defensive players. Also, depending on if you can find a way to keep Taj (while getting Melo), you'd have another very good defender there. Plus the guys getting replaced aren't what you'd call elite defenders (well Deng is but Boozer certainly wasn't).

(IMO the way to clear enough space to offer a guy like Melo is to trade Noah, and I'm not sure you can do so without moving him. But Noah ought to be worth a late first round pick and an expiring to someone right now, he'd be a major upgrade at Center for most teams not named the Pacers)

Noah is worth more then that to the Bulls. He's having a very strong season (after recovering from a slow start). In no world would I deal Noah for a late 1st rounder and free cap space, not this year. I believe all Bulls need to do is clear Hinrich, Dunleavy and Gibson for expirings and they would have more then enough to offer Melo a max deal (+ sign Mirotic). Only way I'm moving Noah is if I'm getting other talented players at high prices (e.g., in a Kevin Love deal) or I'm getting a combination of either lottery picks or really good young players on cheap deals (+ expirings). No reason Noah shouldn't be part of the Bulls long term plans if you can't get that.

Caproom won't do us s*** this year. Melo is really the only target worth throwing big money at (unless LBJ truly comes out) so it at least makes sense to be positioned to grab 1 player. If you can't find this stuff, then you basically have to keep caproom until the following years class which is much stronger (isn't that Love/Westbook/George + guys like Durant can opt out).

Maybe someone can shed light on why Eric Bledsoe and the suns are not counting the season out despite him having the SAME injury, 2 months after rose.

Eric Bledsoe underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee Thursday.

The Suns released a statement saying Bledsoe will

"pursue a possible return to action during the second half of this NBA season."

So we know they don't think he's done for the season, but an absence of 6-8 weeks or more is very likely. And with Bledsoe ticketed for restricted free agency this offseason, he's not going to rush back -- especially since this is the second right meniscus repair he's had in the last two years. Gerald Green will continue to start indefinitely next to beastly point guard Goran Dragic.

maybe he had the quicker recovery surgery that Rose opted against, the meniscus shaving.
