Prospects of the Month - May 2015

This is our monthly feature, letting you know who has had the best months down on the farm. The hitter was pretty obvious this time, the pitcher not so much. Overall it wasn't a great month in the org for performances, but there were some stand-outs.

Here's the article.

Anyone we missed you think should be there?

thanks a lot for these. maybe one day one of these guys will actually be a starting caliber position player! If that Chalas guy ever throws even one productive inning for Chicago, good job Hahn. De Aza had his hot streak with the Os but it's obvious in retrospect they cut bait on him at the right time.

thanks for pulling all that info together again.

What about Austin and Lechich?

And they showing anything?

Austin was red hot at the plate in April, cooled off for a while, but is now picking back up again. Defensively, he's throwing out runners at a very good pace, but I've heard some negatives on the catching end as well.

Lechich isn't doing a done statistically, but he's very good defensively, has good speed, and shows some promise at the plate. Here's an in-person scouting report on Lechich.

This article has interviews with both.

just trying to find some prospects to get excited about, other than the usuals like Anderson, May, Hawkins, Michalczewski.

Thompson has seemed to make slight improvement this season, but still doesn't look like anything more than a fourth outfielder who can help with the glove and his legs. Ditto for Davidson, at least with an improved batting average.

Maybe DiMichele.

Or Jake Peter.

Doesn't seem to be any real excitement around Kevan Smith. Nieto has been a major disappointment.

With only one pick in the first three rounds this year, and that one likely targeted for a pitcher, just hoping another position prospect emerges.

There are lots of pitchers, but you seem focused on position players. I personally think we're seeing more than a small improvement from Thompson - he's doing better in basically all aspects, and doing it at a level higher. That's significant.
