Shipping Lynn out was a breath of fresh air yesterday for the entire team, and they responded with a 3-0 shutout. The team can come together and play for each other now that finger pointing selfish trash is out of the dugout.

Speaking of which not sure any team on the planet wants anything to do with Clevinger, but hopefully he will pitch well tonight and some desperate team will want him, so we can be proud of supporting all the players on the team.

It was widely reported that Lynn was one of the few leaders on the team and someone who also showed accountability.

  2. To be honest, I'm very hesitant to judge Grifol on this just because it's clear he has been handed a bag of s%*#.  This is a team that was essentially built to win this division and nothing else.  And the fact that they might be able to get away with that because this division is such a s%*#-show, tells you just about everything you need to know about this team.  As an Arsenal supporter, I remember the whole Arteta out thing.  Granted, he had more immediate success when he won the FA Cup but his first full season was brutal.  Once Arsenal committed to the project he wanted, we saw results.  Granted, the results that he got hinged on the Arsenal board's willingness to spend big money to get him the players he wanted.  We need a clearing out of this front office.  But I'm hesitant to throw Grifol out with the bathwater just yet.

Last night’s game crushed me.  I looked it up and Lopez and Kelly have 11 losses and 11 blown holds / saves added together.  That means (surely some overlap) that there’s been at least 10-15 games that they’ve entered with us leading or tied and they put the other team ahead.  It matches what I’ve seen in games.  I get anxious every time one of them pitches, no matter what our lead is.  Would we not be around .500 without them?  Aren’t the Twinkies around .500 and leading the division?  Does the new manager deserve a pass on this?  I remember he said he wasn’t into stats or cyber metrics but relies on his “gut.”  Isn’t that like saying I’d rather ride a horse on the Dan Ryan than drive a car?  What good is technology and progress if ignored?  Anyone else in on this?  How long do we let the guy do his cowboy routine and deny the 21st century?

Wasn't the whole reason they brought Grifol in because he was a "new age" manager who was heavily into metrics?

  4. His velocity is down.  Also wondering if the treatment that he went through took a toll on his body.  I do remember that Andrew Miller had the same chronic UCL tear and was fine.  This is unknown territory though.  Especially with how he is post treatment.  His return from cancer was much quicker than most expected but there are so many questions.  I think he'll probably be ok but in this case I understand why the Sox brought him back when they did and there is just so much that we don't understand about Liam's road back.

I didn't watch the second game. What was with that lineup? We had a chance to sweep. Should have went the "A" lineup. These guys need wins more than rest. Coddle them like babies and they act that way.

The AQI was also above 150.  They needed to rest as many as they could because playing two games in that atmosphere was not safe.

  6. This is what actual accountability from a front office looks like.  Defend your project all you want.  If you are a GM or owner, you should damn well believe in what you are doing.  But be accountable!

  7. Was at the game yesterday.  Awful.  Had to check my bag even though I had several medical devices in it and when I pointed this out, the guy was very uncooperative in helping me figure out a way to keep the bag.  Also had to pay $10 for it.  Nearly didn't get into the stadium because of the new barcode needed.  Apparently the normal tickets that were used last year don't work.  Apparently you need a special barcode.  And once again, really unhelpful in trying to help me figure this out.  The lines at the concessions were long as hell.  It's as if the Sox are too cheap to properly staff the concessions.  And the team itself on the field was lifeless after the 6th inning.  I love the White Sox with all my heart and soul but this experience left me upset and angry.  It wasn't this bad in the rebuild.  This team actively hates it's fan base.  Whatever.  Arsenal have made me so happy this year that at least I have them.  It's nice that their new day to day owner actually appears to give two shits about their fans.  This year's Arsenal team is what the Sox were supposed to be.   A dominant, swaggering, likable team that plays together.  We only actually got this in 2020 and parts of 2021.

It’s only four games, but the team just looks more engaged.  Good series against the world champs

In retrospect, as dumb as that move was by Moncada in the first game, it did show a passion and a fire that I hadn't seen from him before.  It's probably easier to say in hindsight because we won the game but I admired his instinct even if it was wrong in the situation.

If only we had Arsenal's depth. We'd need some major contributions from guys we do not expect it from if we end up with Arsenal's injury luck this year. They lost Gabriel Jesus and it didn't really hurt their results. Can we do the same if we lose a top 3 position player or pitcher for an extended period of time?

I think their activity at the transfer deadline helped.  But I do think the depth on this team equivocal to the 21 Sox who lost three top position players for an extended period of time.

  10. Grifol has me excited.  I really think the White Sox got their version of Mikel Arteta.  Someone who is a perfectionist and will demand excellence and really create his own team culture.  For anyone who is a soccer fan, they are probably familiar with Arteta's demanding style.  From what I gather, Grifol has this as well.  Like Arteta, Grifol isn't afraid to get rid of once thought of untouchable players if they aren't getting with the program.  We'll see but I think this hire is reason enough to be excited for this season.

You didn’t think about s%*#. You read this somewhere and posted it here. I wish there was a jerk-off emoji.

I have my own trauma that I'm dealing with in regards to this subject.  But the fact remains is that due to labor rules established within the MLBPA, they can't do anything until the investigation is concluded and if  they tried, it would be a nightmare.

  12. My friend Katie is actually quoted in The Athletic article.  In the coming days, I'd love for us to compile a list of links to charities that the Hendriks are active in.

On a side note, this whole news about Liam has just fucked me up.  I'm sure I'll get excited about the baseball season again but it's just left this cloud over everything.
