    Castillo, Lo Duca, and Valdez for Lee.

     

    Just go with me here...regardless, right now, of whether the Marlins would do that, is that a good deal for us? We add a lefty, a lead off hitter, a base stealer, and an all star in castillo, a capable starting C in Lo Duca, and a 4th or 5th starter to fill out the rotation. Also, maybe add in Encarnacion, to replace Lee.

     

     

    Would Florida do that? Probably not. But I would...I think that's fair value. They get a LF who will probably thrust himself into stardom next year, and they shave off a few million, and we fill multiple holes.

    Maybe with the emergence of there SS prospect last year (can't remember his name) maybe they would trade someone like Julio Lugo.  He's a middle infielder who can play short or second and he's got a pretty good arm and got good range and speed. Bat isn't the greatest but he'll be better than what we had there last year.

    That's BJ Upton you're thinking of.

     

    Also, Lugo would be nice, but I can think of others who I'd want more.

    also saw Jin Wong (Royals Director of Baseball Operations) and Art Stewart (Scout, Special Asst. to the GM) sit down at Starbucks and talk in hushed tones - I heard Stewart say something about "dealing with our favorite team, Washington" - so here it is, straight from the front office - the Royals are looking to swing a trade with the Nationals.

     

    Plus this:

     

    The Cubs have discussed Sammy Sosa with the Nationals and the Royals during the winter meetings.

    The Rockies had been a candidate to acquire Sosa, but they may not still haven't interest in an exchange of bad contracts. A deal with the Royals would likely involve Mike Sweeney and a third team. If the Nationals figure out a way to fit Sosa into their budget, they'd likely move Nick Johnson and play Brad Wilkerson at first base. Dec. 12 - 1:25 pm et

    Well, I'm hoping that we don't give up Konerko and Garland for just Vazquez. I'd need more.

     

    There's 2 guys I really want (not both of them--well, that'd be good too--but at least one), one is an FA, one through trade. Those guys are Odalis Perez and Tim Hudson. I think it will take something in the 6-7 Mil year region for Perez, which I think is feasible. Hudson would probably require a 3 team deal, as what we have doesn't match the A's wants. Perhaps this:

     

    Oakland gets:

    BJ Ryan

    Erik Bedard

    Willie Harris

     

    Baltimore gets:

    Paul Konerko

     

    Sox get:

    Tim Hudson

     

    Hmm...that probably wouldn't work, but it's the best I can think of right now. Perhaps I'll get a bit more creative later. Also, if we did do that, we'd need to have another MI signed already, and Uribe could play the other spot.

     

    I'm really hoping we come out with Renteria as well. I doubt we could get him AND Perez but...we shall see.

     

    Also, what day do the meetings offically start? Tomorrow?
