Frank is awesome - never thought I would say that but I have to make a 2nd post. Hearing him deliver real insights and views is refreshing.  And than Tim did exactly what Frank was saying after that 1st pitch where he pulled open.

Was just thinking the same thing. He and Jason have great chemistry also

  2. Ah, the early signs of spring:  the days grow longer, flowers bloom, newborn fawns take their first awkward steps after the long, hard winter and ‘Player X is in the best shape of his life’ articles fly across the internet.

Holy hell everyone, we’re finally getting close to having around baseball again!

  3. Great list!  I’d switch Gonzalez and Basabe and maybe even move Rutherford ahead of him.  I also think Collins continues to be underrated-yes he’ll probably never have a pretty BA or win a gold glove but the power and OBP more than make up for that at a premium position.

For this upcoming year I expect Bryce Bush to rocket up the list.  Hopefully Alec Hansen will bounce back and do the same, and if Gavin sheets can find even a moderate amount of power he could easily get into next years top 10.

  4. At this way-too-early to speculate time, I’m having a hard time seeing how Rutschman falls to us.  A switch hitting catcher with good pop, a strong hit tool and adequate or better defense.  Then again Matt Wieters and buster posey had similar profiles and both lasted to #5 in average draft classes.

That said, I’d be ecstatic if we got Vaughn if Rutcshman was already gone.  I get the whole not wanting to draft a 1B so early but you also can’t talk yourself out of picking up the best hitter in the entire class, no matter where he plays.  We had a kid from Auburn fall to us for that very reason a long while ago and that worked out pretty well...

I said it was a small sample size, but Madrigal has not really impressed so far.

I couldn’t disagree more.  He is more than holding his own at a level higher (I believe) than any other ‘18 draftees.  His BABIP indicates he’s hitting in some bad luck while maintaining the best contact rate in the system-by far-if not all of pro baseball.  His D has been praised and he apparently is a guy who is willing to work and make adjustments and do what he needs to do to grow.  He may never crack 10 hrs a year but if he continues to improve from the baseline rate he’s established as indicated by his performance so far this year....dude’s going to be fine.

  6. At home, caught the last couple innings and then scared my then 1 y/o daughter with all my screaming and cheering.

I also have to agree with hawk, wise’s catch might have been the best one I’ve ever seen given the circumstances.    I had forgot how it popped out of his glove and he juuuuuust was able to barehand it.  Freaking awesome all the way around.  MB will forever be the man
