  1. i think it's safe to say, and we should all agree, that the White Sox should just move on. the Orioles are asking WAY too much and we shouldn't give up anyone for a 1 year rental.

if the Sox were contending for a WS title next season and had a stacked farm system, maybe. but we all know that's not our present-day reality.

I think the Sox still have the best offer on the board but Angelos is insisting on the Sox including more, which the Sox are wisely not doing. Thus, the Orioles don't feel they're getting enough for him and no trade will be made.

i hope this is very well the situation right now. there is NO reason at all the Sox need to get into a bidding war with anyone over Machado unless there's a long-term contract extension involved (which there isn't).

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Orioles want "two young, controllable starting pitchers" back in a trade for Manny Machado.

The Orioles don't expect to re-sign Machado, so they appear willing to seriously consider offers from interested teams. No word on which team might have the advantage in trade talks, but the Cardinals have been mentioned as a possibility. One interesting side note from Rosenthal is that Machado wants to move to shortstop for his final year before free agency. Dec 12 - 12:35 PM

    interesting.

so in addition to having a stacked farm system - also keep on mind how absolutely little money we have tied up beyond in 2018 and beyond

if Hahn can move Robertson, Frazier, Melky and Abreu, the 2019 payroll is going to be peanuts at which time Hahn can go out and make a big splash in free agency.

he has positioned this team nicely thus far. i'm excited about the future that's for sure.

Sox were the only team out there actively selling off premium pieces when many teams should have been more proactive. Hahn waited, and ended up getting a major return.

    Sale/Eaton/Quintana netted the Sox:

    Moncada

    Kopech

    Basabe

    Diaz

    Giolito

    Lopez

    Dunning

    Jimenez

    Cease

    Rose

    Flete

Combine that with signing Luis Robert, and drafting Burger/Sheets

    WOW

THIS has me all kinds of excited. :cheers

Looks like Pirates sports writer's and the fan base really want Huntington to make a Q trade happen.

i too like to read other city's sports sections and the comments. :)

seems like all the PIT fans don't think much of Quintana and do NOT want Meadows as a part of any trade from what i've been reading.

  7. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 09:55 AM)
I'm not getting my hopes up because it's so far fetched, but think about this going forward

    1 Moncada 2b S

    2 Meadows Cf L

    3 Abreu DH R

    4 Bell 1b S

    5 Collins C L

With the young arms the Sox already have acquired. Time to quit dreaming.

i don't think it's that far-fetched though because this is all we have. we traded away some good ball players and we have to pray some of these kids pan out. statistically maybe 1/2 of them will make it to the bigs so we just have to acquire more assets for what we're giving away.

This place gets more ridiculous every day.

i feel like you are undervaluing Robertson. a guy that saves 39/34/37 over the last 3 seasons isn't awful. besides last year, his ERA has been decent.

is he Chapman? no. is he Jansen? no. but he was 10th in saves last year. ahead of Chapman, ahead of Allen, ahead of Krimbell, ahead a Davis.

but to you that's not even worth a top 100 prospect? sorry bruh, you're ridiculous.
