Zobrist was 23% better than a league average hitter in 2018, but struggled last year as he dealt with marital issues.  I think it remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank, but the cost to find out should be minuscule enough to gamble on the upside.

As for Leury, his favorable splits against LHP (113 wRC+) is based on a SSS (280 PAs) and involves an unsustainable BABIP (.388).  I worry his production against LHP may be just a fluke and if it regresses he suddenly isn’t a good platoon partner for Mazara and a well below average hitter in general.

Is Zobrist even going to play next year? I don’t really want anything to do with him

I highly suggest watching a YouTube clip of Eloy’s homers last year. A ball change isn’t keeping those balls from going out of the park.

a ball change would concern me much more regarding Moncada and Anderson.

While i agree on Eloy, i have to disagree on Moncada. Look at his exit velo numbers before the juiced ball. He kills the ball, i would be shocked to see a huge fall off from him. I could see it with Tim though.

There is nothing wrong with depth, but it's a back up catcher. Would you rather have what is perceived to be the stronger of the back up catchers, although steamer has projected them virtually even, or the less of the back up catchers, but a stronger bullpen? Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, money does play a role, and McCann's salary hit can and should be used elsewhere.

You can sign someone who is just as good as anyone you would get for McCann or Collins. I wouldn't sell a top prospect catcher who has shown promise or an all star catcher for a rp. Bullpen arms are way too unpredictable.

Count me in the group that would rather trade McCann than Collins. I like McCann a lot, but it’s pretty obvious that his first half of 2019 was an anomaly. If Hahn can sell high on him, he should do it.

If it is obvious to you, do you think 29 other GMs aren't going to see it too? Keep McCann and Collins, there is nothing wrong with having depth. Good teams have tons of depth. McCann was valuable last year.. lets keep the best catcher duo together.

Agreed, but I'm simply stating this pretty pretty much puts the axe in any Madrigal/Vaughn talks for Price talks.

Those were ridiculous to begin with. Hopefully it means that market will start to take shape. Should be a similar return I would think...

  6. i really wouldnt hate a keuchel signing if he was the second guy that we got. he is a solid enough arm. if they are able to land an interesting guy via trade i certainly wouldnt hate keuchel. i dont think he will be the best guy sp they get though.. most reports out there are that they are aggressive i think they will make things happen

This suggests Vaughn is on the block for a pitcher. If Ozuna is DH presumably for several years, Jose has to stay at 1B.

    Dammit.

This is so stupid. Leave prime prospects alone. Wheeler's wife is literally wrecking the rebuild

i wouldnt get too upset honestly. that guy seems unreliable
