The Mariners are the Bills of MLB.

The Mariners are so stupid.
The Mariners are going to be really bad for a long time.
Where have you been for the last 15 years?

Looks to me that Mazara was signed to be the regular right fielder. Engle and Garcia will be his late inning replacements and occasional platoon partners.
Mazara was traded for.

I think we are all forgetting how the team likes to have flexibility with the lineup. Castellanos brings that, he can serve as your typical full time DH play or when Ricky gets the hair to play both catchers at the same time you can move him to the OF without having Leury or Engle having to play that much. You wouldn’t have a gaping hole in your lineup with a bench player day in and day out
Can he still play 3B too? That's more flexibility as well. I'm all for signing Castellanos. This lineup looks so much more formidable with him included.

I don't know how to embed a tweet. Regardless, I'd like to think I may have had a little hand in getting this one done.

Are people seriously running with that WSD post?
If Keuchel had agreed to sign/were signing with the White Sox, we'd know already. I'd love to have either him or Ryu, but I wouldn't get my hopes up on anything until you see an official press release, otherwise you're unnecessarily setting yourself up once again for another disappointment potentially.

This is someone I could envision the White Sox targeting. I would not mind taking a flyer on Yoenis to split time between RF/DH:
One interesting effect of Yoenis Céspedes' contract restructuring: the Mets have had teams reach out the past week regarding his availability in trades, according to a source. Nothing close or imminent or even all that likely, but some initial conversations have taken place.10:11 AM · Dec 19, 2019TweetDeck- 1

Again with attacking the organization for the one thing theyve actually been good at recently - high profile trades.
Just because they've excelled there in the past, doesn't mean they still won't make a shitty one out of desperation.

I'm all for keeping McCann, but he should not be a player you should need to be "overwhelmed" in a deal to trade.

It’s ok to trade prospects. Most prospects don’t pan out. We need to stop treating every single one as untouchable.
They should be more untouchable than Jerry's money.

If the White Sox want Boston to eat significantly more of that contract, they will need to include prospects. The Sox have coveted Benintendi since before the Sale trade also. It's not too hard to connect the dots. What Gammons is proposing is ludicrous. However, the White Sox making such a deal, would not surprise me in the least. Probably not both, but I could see them being short-sighted enough to include at least one.
-
Let's look at the track records and see which is more likey:
A) Peter Gammons, who has always had great ties with Boston, is simply mistaken
B) The White Sox front office, which has made one questionable decision after another, who have also shown an ineptitude in evaluating their own prospects, are seriously considering this.

I feel like when it comes to Boras, the Sox will bow out early if he tries to goad them into a war with the Twins. They don't seem to play Boras' game.
Then they're in the wrong business.

Yeah, as this offseason goes on it looks more and more like the organization is content on making a run at it in 2021 instead of 2020. At least, that's the optimistic way of looking at it. The pessimistic way of looking at it is that this organization is incompetent.
I think you mean "logical."

If Rick/Kenny/Jerry try to sign either of these pitchers to a "reasonable" deal, they will not be signing with the White Sox. One of the other 29 remaining teams is going to be overpaying for them.
-
We need to stop splitting hairs with years and money for this team. It needs pitching more than anything. Overpaying is par for the course. They should be trying to get arms in here by any means necessary.

Covey will not be in the rotation to open the season. I really wish that comment would disappear on here and twitter
I really wish Dylan Covey would disappear from the Sox altogether.

This is a ridiculous statement with no backing or evidence.
It's a safe bet considering what AZ's offer was and Bumgarner's own preference to stay in the NL and West Coast. If he were to sign with the White Sox, they would have had to overpay. It's just the state of doing business with a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in over a decade.
-
This team is seriously going to sign zero of the 1st/2nd tier pitchers on the FA market and more than likely trade assets for a pitcher.
S.S.D.D.
Or they could go even cheaper and just choose to run with their current rotation and pray for the best. We seriously might see Dylan Covey in the rotation again. Fuck Jerry.
-
The Sox would have had to go over $100 million to even get Bumgarner to consider signing.

Yeah he wanted to still be able to bat so I can’t blame him. Looks like it’s down to Keuchel and Ryu as the ones left
No pun intended.

There goes another one. Figured he was a long shot to leave the NL.
It's starting to feel more and more like the Sox are going to be left there hanging with nothing to show. After signing Grandal, this has been turning into one disappointment after another.

D'oh! I don't watch football, so that shows.
I guess I used the Bills because I've always heard them as being used as a punchline. That and the Jets.
