  1. I am like many of you that don’t want to trade top prospects for rentals. I also think this team hasn’t played well enough to earn that trust of going all in. However a report today Oakland is willing to trade Sean Murphy. He could help us present but also for next three years. He shouldn’t be cheap prospect wise but think he could help shave down Grandals games behind the plate this year and next.  Thoughts on if this makes sense and thoughts on what it’d take to acquire?

  2. This is a fun thread at this close to halfway point. I still think two biggest errors which have been said often is picking up Kimbrel option and not at minimum giving Rodon qualifying offer. I think Rodon even stays with a decent offer. Not giving QO will look even worse tomorrow night at draft.

  3. If you are above row 20 and past the dugout on first base side you’ll be in shade      Majority of game. The rows in the 30s at about section 110 are almost always open. My kids are 8 and 11 now, but I did similar things as you are thinking a few years ago. Southpaw is generally up in kids area about the second or third inning. That’s generally best/only time to get a picture unless you are going early.

  4. I got into mlb draft projections much deeper when the Sox were in rebuild mode and have followed the last couple years best I can.   I really appreciate so many of you in these long term draft threads giving your thoughts and opinions. Anyway with just over a month before the draft I would love to see what your fav first pick would be in each of the four demographic groups while assuming being available for Sox:

    1. High school pitcher

    2. High school hitter

    3. College pitcher

    4. College hitter

  5. Been to three and have tickets bought for three more , but I can’t do any more other than what I’m committed already. I’ve got young kids who enjoy baseball and the white Sox thankfully, so I’m trying to teach them all the traditions while I grit my teeth half the time.
I just feel like we are all being ripped off of a season. I am truly sad for all levels of short and long time season ticket holders. We all deserve better.

Guys I like in no particular order:

    Cooper Hjerpe.

Drew Gilbert, I’m on the bandwagon. I’ve been watching a lot of his games and highlights. He’s such an exciting player. I wonder if the improved pitch recognition is for real.

Justin Crawford - my dream pick but it’s not happening.

    Gabriel Hughes.

    Connor Prelipp

I like the three pitchers as potential picks and no doubt on Crawford. I’ve only seen highlights on Gilbert, what would you compare him to?

  7. Can’t argue with that, other than what happened with Yermin for a month last year. Not saying it would ever be at that level, but maybe at a lesser level. Then there’s either value to him on the Sox or to someone else. The time invested him makes it a special case in my opinion. But yes, I think there’s inevitable parting in the next few days.

  8. If they choose to go with two catchers I think a spot for micker is possibly available at least for april. I think he deserves a chance and we deserve to see it as a white Sox. It’s almost like keeping a rule 5 guy on your roster to see what he’s all about. Truly would be sad to lose him for nothing. If they are  considering waiving him, orioles probably ready to swoop in.

  9. If Kimbrel can’t be traded for anything to help us in 2022, are we better off trying to fix the bullpen expenditure issue by trading Liam Hendricks and give Kimbrel the closer role he apparently desires even if not deserved?  I don’t know what Hendricks trade value would be but it’s clearly higher than Kimbrel.

  10. Great thoughts from all of you. Just shows one or two different moves potentially changes so many things. In sox history 1985 is the year I’d change. Sox took Kurt brown fifth and Jose Mota 33.  Barry bonds went six and Randy Johnson 36.   I’ve never read a detailed article on this draft from Sox perspective , but this haunts me retroactively. If we took those two and they developed in minors(especially Johnson), the McDowell, Ventura, Thomas, Fernandez drafts potentially still occur. The baines for sosa trade may not need to happen then. Allowing  Fisk and baines as vets leading the way from old comiskey to new comiskey.  Dreams.

  11. I know segura has been talked at length. If we are getting a veteran for Kimbrel who may be available, how about Randal grichek?  I’d prefer payroll flex and minor leaguers, but thought he may feel right field. Looks like three years and about 28 million left on his contract? He was mentioned in trade talks prior to lock out. Thoughts?
