Homeowning!
in SLaM
Start a house fund (somewhere with a decent interest rate; I use an Ally savings account) and contribute to that account monthly to cover unexpected house expenses. Nothing worse than having to get a new furnace, AC or water heater and having to pay for it without some extra savings set aside.

Thats an awful result.
I could live with playing the youngsters everyday in lineup if our rotation didn’t have so many questions. Fact is, Keuchel was terrible last year. And we have no clue what Kopech will do pitching every fifth day. Velasquez and Lopez are serviceable spot starters in a pinch, but neither should be getting multiple starts, which will inevitably happen with injuries and Kopech’s inning limit.

Similar boat to you. I have a 15-month old and cancelled my gym membership when the pandemic hit. I bought the Bowflex select dumbells (https://www.bowflex.com/selecttech/552/100131.html) and some other gym equipment.
I also found this woman's exercise videos on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/c/CarolineGirvan/videos). I only use her upper body workout videos because I run 5 days a week and I would be too sore from her lower body workouts. She's a terrific resource.
But with the weights and her videos, I don't see a need to go back to the gym.

Watt wants to win and the Bears are in bad cap shape. Watt is not coming here.

I'd really, really enjoy hearing what was said/thought that Pace deserves a 7th year to try and win a playoff game.
And a fourth shot at finding a starting QB. I am worried his desperation will cause him to trade up in the draft to get a new QB and further set the franchise back long-term.

I failed to mention but keeper league, I drafted Kamara in the 18th round his rookie year and also kept Sanders as a 5th rounder. I had the 4th pick this year and was able to get Cook.
Ok that makes. I was gonna say, no way you could get both in re-draft leagues without trading for one.

I have BY FAR (200pts) the most points in my league yet this weeks loss put me in 4th. This isn’t a few big weeks I’ve had, it’s every week yet I’ve faced the most points of anybody. Best team I’ve possibly ever had.
Tannehill (was originally Dak)
Cook/Kamara/Sanders/Harris
DK/AJ Brown/Evans/Boyd
Hockenson/Engram/Goedert
Koo
i don’t think I’ll ever have a team this elite or deep again, really frustrating.
Did you trade for Cook or Kamara?

Brooks responded to me last night. Similar e-mail to the other one posted, but also personalized a bit. Brooks is a good man and he is listening. Keep those e-mails coming.

My sole source of optimism at this point is that both sides are quiet because the Sox have outside counsel working on this. They probably can fire him for cause for the DUI, but then there is the issue of their notice of the situation. So perhaps the Sox and LaRussa are working on some sort of settlement to have him go away and that is why the radio silence from both parties.
-
With an owner like Reinsdorf, you just simply will not have sustained success. He has been the biggest obstacle to winning White Sox baseball, and unfortunately, this organization won't turn around until he is gone.
Hiring LaRussa was embarrassing enough. Now this. At a legitimate existential crisis with my White Sox fandom.

If the Sox hire more progressive, young coaches, it will make hiring LaRussa more bearable to me. But if we hire retreads, this will set the organization back.

Jerry Reinsdorf always finds a way to fuck everything up.

They’ve said this for a few years and haven’t come close to following through.
And does anyone think the Sox would be able to devlop a toolsy, but raw hit tool high schooler?

Can’t pick Vaughn. We have yonder there.
Ok obviously kidding. Vaughn and rutschman clearly top college players. I don’t know much about the HS guys (nor can anyone who isn’t a National scout) but seemed like a few months ago Witt was being talked about as 1-1. Obviously one of those three will be there. these drafts show you just how important each draft spot is, and how much better it is to pick 1 or 2 than 3 or 4. Tanking matters
The only solace I have is that there was no way the Sox were catching the Orioles last year no matter how bad they played toward end of the year.

It’s so hard, this guy is obviously looking like an exception, but if you were only to follow a few dogmatic rules for drafting in the first round I think mine would be:
- don’t draft hs RHP
- don’t draft 1b
Obviously later in the first it’s a tossup, but this would steer you correctly a large percent of the time. But here we are with a hugely consequential pick. Gun to head Id still take Abrams if available over Vaughn, but I would have a hard time not being excited to take him.
Would you draft Paul Konerko with the third pick? Serious question. Obviously offensively, Paulie had a big impact on the game, but because he played first base, his overall value was about a 3 WAR player per year.

For such a good glove and arm why is Vaughn at first base? Can't he play third?
He’s not athletic apparently. Lateral movement would be an issue

Maybe, just maybe, the Sox are seeing all the negative reaction and get back in the Harper derby. If you give Harper $320 million over 10 years with an opt-out to satisfy him, maybe at the back end of the contract, you have bad money and maybe even during his prime years (due to defense and a bad hitting season), he isn't worth $32 million per year. But one bad contract won't kill a team from being competitive. And adding him to the Sox makes it more likely that the Sox are competitive, helps with marketing and attendance. The reward of Harper substantially outweighs the risk of him. He clearly is waiting for his number to be matched. The Sox simply have no reason not to do it (except probably a mandate from the owner).

I'm not attending a single game this year.
I will be going to one, White Sox v. Red Sox for my dad's b-day, only because he wanted to see the World Champs. Other than that, won't be supporting this organization fiscally.

Robert at 93 IS BAT-SHIT CRAZY.
I tend to agree. Every report has lauded him as a CF, meaning his value will be pretty strong even if he does not hit that well.

On the bright side, our summers will be so much more open to devote to non-sports things. Think of how many hobbies you could have, books you could read, etc.

Yep they have horribly misspent 40 million this year and then cry about not having enough money for a winning roster.
Figure out who to pay when you have a winning roster with players worth paying. As of right now, we have ZERO cornerstone major league players.

Except most accidental discharges (assuming it was one) occur in places where it is legal to have a firearm, here is it illegal to have a gun at GRF in the first place. Also, this isn’t an accidental discharge situation in the confines of the home where the risk of collateral damage is small, someone easily could have been killed based on the amount of people in the area. This isn’t some accidental discharge situation where the only potential victim is the negligent gun owner.
