  1. QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 02:57 PM)
    There is a reason the sox draw 122,000 people to their radio station and its becuase they are on a powerful 50,000 Watt AM station that can be heard hundreds of miles away. Why on earth would the team limit its broadcasts to the immediate 75 miles of the city, they would be reducing their listening audience.

    I'm pretty sure that 122,000 number only includes people in the Chicago DMA, which is roughly the area that TV & FM radio stations reach. I don't think people outside the Chicago DMA are included in the ratings or cumulative audience figures.

    don't know if someone has asked this before, but was looking at schedule for april and we have an away series with the injuns from the 11-14 with the 12 off. why would they split an series like that, let alone an away series?

    Because 4/11 is Cleveland's home opener.

  3. The '77 season was electric, but I was a tad too young to get out to the park a lot.

    The second half of 1983 was awesome... it seemed like we won every night and the park was one huge party. I even drove up from school (Champaign) a couple of times that September to catch some games. And the team was full of characters, they were so much fun to watch.

  4. The Wrigley Field Experience was completely different back in the moid-to-late 70s/early 80s. The neighborhood was crappy. Bleacher seats were $6.00 and it was not considered to be very desirous seating. Heck, they used to open the gates after the 7th inning and let the neighborhood kids in for free.

  5. I was great meeting you guys yesterday & fun hanging out. You all certainly don't mess around when you throw a tailgate party!

    HSC, you should have come with us to the Bullpen Bar after the game; not only was there no line, there were plenty of room open at the bar.

    Music

    Well, the new Ziggy Marley album is damn good. The new Widespread Panic album is quite good, too.

    The North Mississippi All Stars are definitely worth checking out.

  6. Manuel has fallen out of my favor as well; he made some dumb moves in KC as well.

    Valentine is an interesting option, chisoxfn. I've been thinking Backman would be the guy to turn to, but a character like Valentine just might be what we need. He seems to know his stuff. Gonna mull this one over.....

  7. That's been going on for years.... those are the guys who hang out between the El stop and Sports Corner. There's a sign there saying that only these guys are "certified" scalpers and that they are the only ones you should buy from.

    I am glad this sham is finally being noticed.

  8. Parque, JB, El Dred & Siro all has great seasons in '00, and have floundered ever since.

    It looks like 2000 was one of those great "fluke" seasons where everything came together.... until the playoffs, that is.
