  1. I think all of us Sox fans, including the entire Sox org, have been overating this team since 2000. This team just has not stepped up to the plate since the first half of the 2000 season. Remember, the Sox got out to a great start, led the division at the break, and then played barely .500 ball the rest of the way. Then they got swept in the playoffs against Seattle. For the next three years, the Sox have been a dissapointment and has failed not only to get back to the playoffs, but just like today, they can't win the big game. They still have the same core of players(Thomas,Konerko,Ordonez,Valentin,Lee and a few others) but lets face it,the Twins series last year really makes me wonder did we really overate this team heart and talent. And now this team has a manager and a bench coach with no expierence and with a lot of questions mark. What do you guys think?
  2. The White Sox line up for the last few years have been too right handed which means no balance and too predictable.Yes,this is a huge risk as far as health is concerned, but there is always a risk with any player especially a pitcher. But Griffey can turn his career around with a better line up and being back in the American League, hitting in a hitter's park.Rowand is truly a fourth outfielder which will make a weak bench better. As far as the other OF's, Ordonez will probably leave,Borchard still isn't proven, Lee could be trade bait because of a salary increase and Reed and Sweeney are just not ready.Remember all the past so-called can't miss prospects the Sox had that has failed? If Griffey comes alive,he will be close to 500 homers, near HOF status that would rival Sosa, and would make a huge impact to the Sox org. And if they could trade a middle range prospect and get the Reds to absorb most of his salary,it is worth the gamble. KW DO IT!!!!!
  3. As a big time White Sox and Frank Thomas fan,the reality exists that his Hall of Fame career will be short of a World Series championship or an apperance. The Sox will barely contend in the super weak central division, while powerful teams like Boston,New York Yankees,Anaheim,Seattle,Oakland are just way better ball clubs. With a ownership that is truly and fully not committed to winning,it is a shame that a great player like Thomas will not get a chance to live a dream to win a WS title along with White Sox fans. The only thing that is for sure is that Sox ownership will continue to raise prices, destroy their fan base even further, continue to tell lies, avoid truths that they really are way over their head and need to get out.
  4. I truly believe that this is still is a White Sox town even though the Cubs have made a sincere effort to dominate every single avenue to ensure that they get all of the national exposure. Before last year, the Sox held the all time season record for attendance for twelve years until it was broken this past season. They were the first team to draw two million in this town, and they averaged 2.5 million from 1990 to 1993 and without the Uncle JR led strike, they would have drawn at least 2.7 million in 94. In my opinion, the only way for the fan base to expand is the Sox must get to the World Series before the Cubs or Uncle JR and his merry clowns of investors or fellow owners put their egos to the side and realize that this game has passed them by and sell the team to an owner who Sox fans can trust, have faith in and is committed to winning, instead of the constant excuses, lies and small market mentality that this current Sox owner and organization have given for twenty three years. A new owner at the very least would create way more intrest and give Sox fans a reason of hope.
  5. I would like to know why Sox fans rip on Marriotti when we All have voiced our opinions on how this joke of an organization continues to fail, lose and make excuses to their fan base. Seems to me,we Sox fans are all pretty much upset about the negative direction Uncle Jerry and the other clueless owners has guided this team to. Jay is a sports writer who is paid just to give and write an opinion. I don't agree with everything he says, but it is no different than we Sox fans going on talk radio or even going to all of the Sox web sites telling everyone who wants to hear how terrible JR or KW really is. I'm glad someone is stepping out to ridicule this org because they deserve all the negative vibe they get, considering the way they treat their fan base with lies, constant excuses towards the media, talk radio, agents, and against us fans as well. Just remember the attack at Sox fest by Sox mgt towards the fan. Jay is not the reason why the Sox have destroyed their fan base and he is not the reason why the Sox org haven't won a WS during Uncle JR twenty three years.
