Merry Christmas Everyone! I've been waiting for a Christmas like this, where I open up White Sox World Series Championship memorbillia. My uncle gave me a plaque containing part of a base used in the world series. It was a great Christmas.

"With
two-time All-Star Esteban Loaiza, Jon Garland and Scott Schoeneweis,
we have five pitchers in our starting rotation who can compete with
anyone in the American League. "
Does that mean anything, like no RJ? I hope not.

The only question I had about the Sox acquiring Livian was his 3 year contract at $24 mill. Though in looking at his numbers throughout his career, he's got what the Sox need--High K/ IP, good GB/ FB ratio, decent control, lots of innings, lots of quality starts, and post season experience.
It'll be interesting to see how he throws vs. the Twins tonight. A stellar outing and we might be seeing our next SP. With Garcia the main target of most teams, [with teams most likely going to get held up due to all the injurie to SP's] Livian certainly wouldn't be a bad door prize. He wouldn't cost the Sox Reed or Borchard either. [Rowand, maybe they'd like Timo, some pitching]
The Sox would then be in good position to acquire another LH bat with their prospects.
Go Livian.
From the expos perspective, i just dont see why the expos would want to trade him. he's locked up for three more years and the expos cant afford to lose anymore quality players before they leave montreal and go to DC or wherever they are going.

What went wrong last year? I just remember that it wasn't pretty, whatever it was.
well, there was this evil old man named jerry manuel who thought the object of baseball was to lose games, especially ones that were important, like against the twins. so he did everything he could to sabotage the efforts of the sox. the sox played well for a while, but eventually his efforts payed off and the sox kept losing.

he didnt win the world series mvp for nothing and now we know why he did.

Munoz will not stay in the rotation becuase he has a good start against the expos. Even if he has a few good starts, i dont think they will make room for munoz in the rotation, should they acquire another starter just because of the fact that munoz is a rookie.

Just a note........ DiMaggio's 56 games is not the professional record for a hitting streak...... anyone want to guess what is and by whom?
Its was Ventura. Wasn't it over 100 games or something crazy like that?

Maybe, it was a list of teams that have two good starters, but no one else behind them. It seemed like there werent any other quality starters on the teams they mentioned.
