I agree with making a move for Taveras. Deal Broadway or someone of that caliber to the Rox, then stick Willy in CF and hit him ninth.
But KW shouldn't stop there. I think he should sign Furcal to the aforementioned 3 year deal alongside the Willy deal. This way he increases the speed of the squad ten-fold, acquires a proven SS and lead-off hitter in Furcal, a more-talented slightly more proven CF than their internal options (Owens/BA) in Taveras, and can keep the missile at a position in which we all know he can excel at. It certainly fits the KW bill of the low-risk/high-reward move, all while adding more speed and dealing only one possibly two prospects.

QUOTE (J-MAN @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 12:12 PM)We have two tickets for 11:00 Tomorrow - if you can pick them up you can have them!
Check your PM.

Hey, if anyone is not using their tickets for this year's GrinderBash, I'd be more than welcome to take them. I missed out the last two years because my brother has had surgery each time (bad timing I know), so we had to skip it both years.
It sounds like such a great event and since I have since canceled my season tickets this year I am now without tickets. So if anyone cannot make it or just happens to have extra tickets, please PM me. Thank you guys.

QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 04:42 PM)that's a funny point, though, he has not been the centerpieces in the deal.
No he wasnt, but looking at just the take from the two deals he was involved in, KW got a lot of talent for an unproven player.

QUOTE(wdson01 @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 04:31 PM)Miguel Cabrera is in his early twenties, and is already one the premier hitters in the major leagues. Do you have a brain? You saying he sucks was the most insanely idiotic thing I've honestly ever heard in my life. You should be thrown out of this forum.
I think it was a sarcastic remark, mainly going off the comment above about how the amount of K's a person has relates to their talent level.

The only reason I voted yes on this is because somehow Kenny Williams traded Gio twice and received Thome and Swisher in return. Even if Gio does pan out, that alone is semi-impressive.

Thank you very much.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 11:29 PM)So tell us how you would have accomplished it. He did everything in his power to accomplish it. What would you have done differently to get these deals done?
Nothing absolutely nothing, but if its as apparent to you that these were some lofty goals why set them in the first place? Might as well have gunned for Arod at short and Johan while he was at it. Do you think KW actually went into the offseason believing he could acquire all of those players? Because I sure do and thats why I'm calling for him to lose his job.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 11:42 PM)If it is as farfetched to accomplish it as it appears, it probably isn't wise to present it or approach it as a "plan". To me that implies it is something like a checklist which would be reasonably feasible to accomplish. If it wasn't so feasible, they shouldn't get our hopes up by presenting it as a plan. At least call it a dream if that's what it really is, and for heaven's sake have safety net lined up if the miracle doesn't materialize. If Jerry Owens is Williams' definition of a safety net, we have more problems than I even imagined.

Exactly, what is the point of "exposing" KW's plan after he failed to fulfill it? Should we as fans not be upset about how this offseason has gone so far? Stories/articles like this one are meant to give an insight to the fans as to how the GM planned on going about improving the team and when all is said and done if this so called 'plan' was not accomplished how can you not fault the man behind the plan?
Attack me as you will, but this off season so far has been beyond unacceptable. All the Sox are left with are a couple of precursor moves (4 years of Linebrink and a 33 year old SS) to this so called 'plan' to show for this off season. If this plan was so far fetched as most of you believe it was, then how did Kenny not see this in the first place. There must have been some glimmer of hope in his GM brain to believe that he could indeed accomplish these moves.
-
Regardless of if its over or not, he said this was his plan, and you cant deny that he didnt fail at accomplishing his offseason plan

So let me get this straight, instead of having the lineup of
SS Orlando Cabrera
CF Torii Hunter
3B Miguel Cabrera
DH Jim Thome
1B Paul Konerko
RF Jermaine Dye
C AJ Pierzynski
LF Carlos Quentin
2B Danny Richar
We're stuck with
CF Jerry Owens
SS Orlando Cabrera
DH Jim Thome
1B Paul Konerko
RF Jermaine Dye
C AJ Pierzynski
3B Josh Fields
LF Carlos Quentin
2B Danny Richar
And people are still saying that Kenny Williams deserves to keep his job?

Would it be possible to change my name to TheKillerB's (my initials are BB). Somehow I'm not feeling the Freddy Garcia love anymore.

I matched all of the numbers but not in the right order, is that worth anything?
-
I also got the 29th but i was wondering if anyone got them for the 30th instead because I would really like to swap with someone.

Picking up Carl Crawford would be the greatest deal Kenny Williams would ever make. The guy is 24 years old and could be the staple of White Sox baseball for many years to come. To say that you wouldnt trade BMac and some other specs for Crawford is down right laughable.

Well you have choice but to kill your son....I'm sorry for your soon to be loss.

I scored 2 tickets to Opening day, 4 to Game 2, and 2 to the entire cubs series. All of which are in the UD and I cant be more satisfied. These tickets of course go along with the 27 other games I have, this is going to be one hell of a year.

From the Philly Inquirer: Officials from around the majors say that the pitching-rich Chicago White Sox would deal righthander Jose Contreras, who pitched brilliantly for that team in the second half of 2005. There are indications that the White Sox like Bobby Abreu but would have trouble taking on his salary as their payroll has climbed about $20 million and is closing in on $95 million.
Screw Payroll, lets add a gold glove outfielder and a hell of a player.

For Crede to satify my expectations I atleast expect a .275 average, 20-25 homers, and 80+ RBIs. If he can do that in the 7th or 8th spot in the lineup, then thats a success in my mind. However if he can stay healthy, play 145-150 games, keep up his already outstanding defense, and not cut his hair back to how it used to be, then I might let him slide with a sub .270 average and only 18 or 19 homers. If he doesnt do this then I expect ChavezTalk to fire up again.

Is this an abreu thread or a why the hell did torii hunter win the gold glove thread?
-
Sounds like we need a new player to drool over.
-
Does anyone have a link to this anywhere? Ive been searching the boards of every site and still nothing. I'm a big Abreu fan and I dont want to see his career brought to an end. However it would be quite funny if the Cubs traded their savior.
-
I'm interested in any team, are there still teams available? I registered but I dont know what I'm doing.

That writer, Dayn Perry, is a chronic Sox basher and now he comes out with this article to make it seem as if hes been a fan of Williams's the entire time. F this guy, hes Mariotti junior if you ask me.

I know my chances are slim, but any chance someone could post a presale code so I can take a crack at Opening Day tickets?
