Does this spell the end of McCann?
Nah. More likely Collins and or Zavala.

Did any of you check back with that page and see his posts? Kinda crazy.
Yep. I even posted the end here for fun and admins weren't having any of it. 😂

Rosenthal doesn't typically have a positive outlook on the Sox, but his post earlier does hold some truth. Focus on real world today dollars. I don't think deferred money can really be included in that kind of comparison

Peeps...I don't mean to speculate, but think about this. There have been many people saying the Machado deal has been done for a while--it's kind of been a repeating theme with many random people...then you have Alonso saying "when" it happens. You have the Sox leaving a locker empty...it's like they know it's coming as if they HAVE KNOWN it's been official. They way they are speaking about Machado and letting these tidbits of info out--there's no way MLB would allow this UNLESS Machado was already property of the Sox.
There is a LOT to suggest that it's POSSIBLE that the deal IS done and being kept from release. Now...let's make a critical mistake and make an assumption that it's true. Now ask WHY? Why would this be kept a secret? It could be that they are trying to navigate the corresponding strike of signing both Machado and Harper. Working out all the details of that so they can have 1 magical "reveal" that would consume the sports world for a long time. Maybe the solution to the super agent's standoff of "who signs first" can be solved by saying hey, we'll both sign together--on the same team...no one gets up-staged. They don't announce the Machado signing then a few days later--THAT'S over because it's all about Harper...or vise versa...
Get what I'm saying? Coordinating strike? All the pieces coming together at once? Rock the world? Ra team?
there's too many people involved for a signing to not leak at this point

Has to be bogus. If it were real, it would have said #SuperSecretSpecialSauces

How so?
Because yesterday he was all "give me all the questions" and today said basically that he doesn't want to talk about something that hasn't happened

At 463 pages its time to introduce a new concept into the discussion. The new tax proposals being floated by a variety of announced candidates propose all kind of new rates on the rich which big time ballplayers will certainly fall into that category. This is not meant to be political but could be why we may see some new types of structures to these mega deals which would take a lot longer to work out. Structuring your contract for tax diversification. Example: May avoid some of the new proposed taxes on super rich which since some talk of 70-90% tax on over 10 million actually makes sense. (not trying to be political but for some of these guys it would make a lot of sense). If Manny gets AAV of 30 to make math easier, 70% tax on over 10 million, 30-10= 20x70%=14 million in tax on just that 20! It would make sense to pay the 20 out over time+/- interest. Maybe 7 million a year x3 years for each year you defer the 20. So 8 yr 240 million would actually be 10 million for 8 years then 7 million for 24 years. If you revert to previous top income tax rates of about 40%, he would save 6 million per year in taxes. If after the 8 years, you move to a state with no state income tax, the savings would be even greater. Also as we all have a great feeling about all politicians, once that on over 10 million tax is in place, you can expect politicians to move it lower and lower cause thats what they do!
70%+ tax is not happening.

Would you rather the secret deal is Harper + Machado vs Pedersen + Machado?

It seems like Manny is definitely going to be unveiled at soxfest. Welp, nothing more to see here I guess.
Unless it's Harper too.

Even when the G Spot was Comiskey, maybe half of fans just called it Sox Park. I'm not going to say "Guaranteed Rate Field" in casual conversation, just like I'm not going to say "PlayStation Fiesta Bowl." Nobody not being paid to a network broadcasting live sports says "Mercedes Benz Superdome." Call it Sox Park and everybody knows what you're talking about. But do Brewers fans have a secondary name for their stadium? Brewers Park? It's always been Miller. I'm sure street vendors will sell loads of "I still call it Miller Park" shirts, but other than that, I wonder how Brewers fans will take to the name change. Maybe they'll just say "going to the Am Fam." That's the problem with the newer stadiums, they don't have an old name that people can use by default.
People called it Sox Park because that was the official name for the first few years, and again from the early 60's to mid 70's it wasn't always officially Comiskey.

Good morning. Still chatting (and forcing yourself to believe) about hats, I see. I still dont think it is a Sox hat. in my opinion, Manny is a color schemin kinda guy. Red hat accents to go with his red shirt and shoes. Now I know you crazies will show me red white sox hats, but just dont lol
You're welcome. 🤣

Anyone crying about the owners or "market price" need to read this.
The system is BROKEN and we shouldn't be giving owners a pass.

That article does not address the competitive balance tax, and the impact that it has, and it has a pretty big impact. There is a point at which throwing crazy/stupid money at one player does not make good business sense. I'm not saying that the 7/175 offer is to that point, but the author of the article is just not being realistic. Unless you are going to somehow demand that all teams have a 200+million payroll, there are going to be market corrections.

Well, yeah, but SD is more comfortable than Chicago in the Summer. It doesn't get nearly as hot there as it does here. Maxes out around 85-88 F.
It's been said that Machado doesn't want to be on the left coast. Didn't like it there

Something in baseball is broken when the league is posting record revenues and only 1/2 teams are seriously interested in 26 year olds on a HoF trajectory.
Then the league had better figure out how to re-balance the luxury tax

When the sub $200m dollar figure was mentioned, was 7 years also mentioned? If not, possible that the sub $200 figure was at a particular opt-out point, not the whole possible year and dollar count
