  1. ah, it's September "what happened to us" time?

    11-17 in a month chalked full of KC, CLE, MIN.....after weeks of success against top teams, who'd a figured this relatively easy month would have done us in....classic white sox

    oh, and yeah, the hitting definitely..... LOB was excruciating, and the decline of PK IMO was the difference maker, even a few clutch hits in the right games would have kept us in first and given pitching some room for error. love the guy but we lived by him in the 1st half and died by him in the second, unfortunate

    Their main runs have been when they fattened up on the Indians at midseason, the Twins and the Royals (until they were swept in KC).

    And winning 9/10 against the White Sox after starting out 3-4.

    That has allowed them to surge from 6 games under to 8 over, but it hasn't been from beating some of the really good teams the White Sox have handled like the Yankees, Angels or Rangers.

    but isn't that what's so infuriating? Every time we play the tigers i keep asking myself how in the hell are we staying ahead of these guys, they have much better pitching and offense? then we go and sweep NY in NY, and they get swept by KC?

  3. after winning gm1 in convincing fashion, the crazy optimist in me :gosox4: started thinking the worst we could do was lose 2/3 and exit up two games.

    should have known better, can already feel the tie for 1st by close of business tomorrow, regardless of how good Gavin looks tonight; our two hit games aren't going to get 'er done.

    up three with three to play could have put these guys in a giant hole after this series.....

    Also, good to finally win a laugher after the last month or so. Especially against an AWFUL Twins team. I mean honestly, they never had what you'd call "great" players in the early 00's division run, but the philosophy was what made them winners. I don't think the philosophy has changed, and the players are just as mediocre so what's the difference? Target Field?

    Yes, I predicted two years ago the grass field would be the end of the "slap bouncer hit through hole" winning method that frustrated me for soooo long.

    Now they can't tailor a team around their park....the way BOS loads up on lefties for their short RF fence

    Being thrown into the fire like this may not be ideal, but hopefully he capitalizes. The team he's facing is something like a good AAA team

    one too many "A"s

    I don't think about it. Sit back and enjoy the baseball. This has been a surprising season and you might as well enjoy it while you can. Hopefully it lasts all the way through October. Lets go White Sox!!!

    If I wanted a reasonable response I would have asked for one. Let's stick with the paranoid soxfan program, mmmkayyy? :D

    Twins record might be bad, but they've been playing pretty damn good as of late. Walters is better than the guys that had been starting for them.

    I hear ya, but they still have the worst record in the bigs, and though coming off a 4 gm winstreak, SO ARE WE, and getting lambasted 9-1 through 4 innings is just soooo Sox-Twins under any and all circumstances.

  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2012 -> 11:05 PM)
    I guarantee in a few years when they're celebrating the 10 year anniversary of 2005, Ozzie will be someone that everyone wants included in the celebration.

    while we're making predictions:

    I guarantee in 2105 when they're celebrating the 100 year anniversary of 2005 and the Lifeatron 3000 is keeping people alive for 500 years, Ozzie will be someone that everyone in New Chicago, Mars will want at the celebration, including Kenny Williams IV

  9. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 11:19 AM)
    Stranger things have happened, but not often. When Hibby made one of his "hope" threads a few weeks ago, I think he left out the '07 Phillies, who trailed the Mets by 7 games with 17 to play and won their division.

    Choking was in that Mets team's DNA, though, and these Tigers don't seem to have that problem.

    Yup the tigs never looked so confident, they know they're playoff bound and playing loose as can be. Will be interesting to see if that carries into the postseason or if when things reset if the pressure will return
