Jefferson Joseph Olacio, LHP - Bristol Sox

Born 01/16/1994 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

    6’7”, 230

    Throws/Bats: L/L

Jefferson Olacio, 18 years old, is a huge guy at 6’7” and 230 lbs. He signed with White Sox for $125 000 in 2010 and played in the Dominican Summer League White Sox last year. He had big control problems last year with a 9.08 BB/9 but he also had a K/9 to match. He has a great fastball and is working on his curve and change-up.

Jefferson spent the 2012 season split between Kannapolis and Bristol. His BB/9 is down from awful 9.08 to still not very good 6.00. His SO/9 is also down, 8.34. Turning 19 in January 2013 he's still very young. He was part of the instructional league squad this fall.

  2. With third placed teams having a chance to reach playoffs, how will play-in work this year?

Let's say the season was over now with the current results standing. Baltimore, Cleveland and Texas are obviously through with Tampa grabbing one of the wildcards. Then what? Currently Sox, Yankees, Detroit and Toronto are all on .556. Would Sox play Detroit because they are in the same division? And which team would be playing at home, both in that game and in the next play-in game? And does it even fit into the schedule?

I know it's highly(!) unlikely to happen, but still?

Fun game. In those appreciate the game commercials, watch the players hands. You can tell how nervous they are. Crain is the worst I've see. Hawks gota really twitchy right thumb as well...

Meh, now I can't stop looking at their hands at every commercial. Thanks! :P

I don't know if MLB will challenge this ruling in court or not, but that's the only way "This isn't over". That and the boo's. And either his next positive test or the dropoff in his numbers.

What do those options actually look like? Could it go as high as CAS, is that even legally possible?

The collector released a statement (USA Today). I'm very interested to read the decision to see what the panel was thinking here.

Just read that article too. "Great" to know that Braun while saving his own face is making life miserable for someone much more honest than himself.

  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 01:08 PM)
I wonder what life is like for the average person living over there. From a distance, and with obviously a poor sample of stories, it seems like hell on earth. I'm also beginning to believe somewhere in that region will be the next location an atomic bomb is exploded.

My parents saw "Tears of Gaza" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0WKVhIpgr4) a while back which pushed my quite conservative father from being pro-israeli to not so pro... He warned me not to watch it unless I could handle it, not sure what that means as I have yet to see it.

I studied a bit about the Middle-East at the University for a term and I have a feeling that life isn't very great for anyone down here, on either side of the conflict.

I feel it's necessary for someone to note that his avatar says he's from Sweden.

Thank you for pointing this out, you'll all get used to me eventually ;)

Sweden has more people following NHL than MLB, NFL, NBA and MLS together... I'm not one of them!
