winninguglyin83
If Miguel Cabrera was the best hitter in the Southern League, Jeremy Reed wasn't far behind. Yesterday Reed went 2 for 5 with a double, run, RBI and sacrifice while batting leadoff for Team USA. And Ryan Hankins, trying to become a catcher, continues to sting the ball. Hankins went 3 for 4 with a run and 4 RBIS. His home run was his third of the AFL season.

aboz56
Glad to see Reed continuing his stellar play. Hope he gets a shot to make the club in the spring, he surely deserves it.
elrockinMT
Glad to see Reed continuing his stellar play. Hope he gets a shot to make the club in the spring, he surely deserves it. My guess is that he probably will get a look in the spring. I don't think we will resign Carl Everett, as much as I would like to see Carl back, and that means Rowand and Reed in CF. I question whether we will bring back Roberto either and that means Miles and Harris trying out for 2B. I think the best of things would be having Everett and R Almoar back, but I am not certain we have the money to spend especially for Carl. As far as Cabrera being the best hitter in the Southern League well he is good, but what do you expect to hear from the Fox people? Cabrera and the Fish are in the WS now and Reed and the Sox are waiting till next year. I don't think much of the announcers anyway. I don't get the feeling they know all that much about what's happening with other teams, the minors, etc. They are there for entertainment only. I'd love to see Hankins up here if he continues to hit like he did this year. CWSOX45

No knock on Jeremy Reed, but Cabrera is a special kid. At 20, he tore up a league of mostly 22-25 year olds. In 69 games he hit .365 with a .609 SLG and .429 OBP to go with 29 2B's, 10 HR, 59 RBI, 31 BB and 9 SB's. I saw him play for all of three games in the first week of the season and it was easily evident he was the real deal.
winninguglyin83
And let's not forget that the guy can play third, left and right. He's a bad boy. Fish will keep him for a few years -- and then he'll pick up the rest of his career in the Bronx, after they're done with whatever free agent they cherry pick this year. Nokona
And his REAL position is SS.
winninguglyin83
The way Cabrera has performed gives me hope that Jeremy Reed can help the Sox next year. Maybe not from the get-go, but maybe by mid-season

YASNY
Alomar is washed up and I don't want to see Everett in CF next year. If we resign him as a DH and 4th OF'er, ok.
