As the team ops has risen from a season low of .572 on April 11th to the current .713 (as of the April 24th game), MalterAnalytics decided to dig into the data to see what was driving the vast improvement. We found the two biggest drivers are that both our chase rate and whiff rates have fallen in sync with the rising ops. Through the April 11th game our chase rate was 30.3% with a whiff rate of 27.6%, and since that day our chase rate and whiff rates have dropped to 26.3% and 23.2%, leading to an OPS of .886 in the same time frame.
