Colson Montgomery should be traded by the deadline

Featured Replies

Colson Montgomery should be traded now for another Ace starting pitcher. It is clear he has holes in his swing, given his 215 batting average. He is also a selfish player whose nose has been out of joint since the emergence of Murakami and Vargas as the true stars of the team. The Sox can easily plug shortstop with the amazing Meidroth, bring Antonacci back to play his natural position of second base and play Perreira in left.

I dont believe Colson will hit another 45 homers in the next two years, let alone one year.. Ptichers have figured him out. And he is clearly stressed at the plate, always trying to hit a home run rather than do what his team needs at the time. His lack of hitting is also bothering him, and he shows his frustration with every at bat that does not go his way. He will be a cancer on this team.

I speak as a passionate lifetime Sox fan for more than 60 years! I practiced my reading lessons on the Daily New Sports page coverage of the White Sox acquisition of Rocky Colavito in 1964. My bedroom door growing up had a sticker that said "Entering White Sox Country." I love this team, and believe in it. And I would hate to see it become rotten from the inside because of one selfish player who should go the way of Danny Ainge and play basketball. Because he will never again hit consistently in big league baseball.
