December 13, 200322 yr I still think we have the best talent in the AL Central. I mean we haven't lost that much. On the bright side the Twins lost Jacque in trading and Kansas City still hasn't given me any reason to think they are better than we are. If things go right we can take this division. I mean add 5 wins just because we don't have Manuel . This team will be playing inspired by Ozzie!!! And if we lose, hey at least we'll look good doing it, in our renovated confines @ US Cellular Field.
December 13, 200322 yr Jaque Jones to who and what do the twins get in return? Fill me in i didn't here about this one.

December 13, 200322 yr Not on any official team sites or Rotoworld, but ESPN made it sound like a done deal yesterday.

December 13, 200322 yr From what I read on Rotoworld, the Twins are not interested in Jones-for-Mantei, and for good reason. And Alomar15....we have only lost Gordon, Colon, Alomar, Sullivan, and Everett from last year, so yeah, we've only lost 2 of our better relief pitchers from last year(and that was from a s***ty pen), our most dominant starter, our 2Bman and spark, and our CFer and #5 hitter. So yeah, we haven't lost that much.

December 13, 200322 yr If I'm not mistaken I though Loaiza was our most dominant starter...Maybe I should check the stats again... Loaiza was the best. However, Colon could just take over a game and not even give you a chance. Loaiza never did that. I remember watching a game last year against Boston on WGN and Hawk was talking about the night before how Colon basically said "You know what I'm going to throw you, see if you can hit it" and they could not. That is complete dominance. Loaiza never showed dominance. I don't remember one time this year when Loaiza was throwing and the opposing hitters had no chance whatsoever throughout a whole game. When I think of dominating pitchers, I think Clemens, Prior, Schilling....those types. Last year, over the last month and a half, Colon showed what he can do on any given night. Colon can be one of the most, if not the most, dominant pitchers in the game when he is on.
December 13, 200322 yr I don't know I think Loaiza was dominant...You knew practically every night that he was at most going to give up 2-3 runs...3 runs when he was on was a bad game for him...He did shut down alot of teams...Colon almost gave up 3 runs a night and that was a great game for him...For Loaiza it was just average.

OK think what you want to. In my mind, no one on the White Sox was more dominant then Colon when he was on.
December 13, 200322 yr I agree with you on some points you made...Colon could guarantee you innings and keep the offense in the game at the same time...He was a bullpen saver, no doubt...Something we're gonna miss especially losing 2 of our best bullpen arms...I just don't agree with the stereotypical dominant pitchers being power pitchers...My point is valid from the guys you mentioned (Clemens,Schilling,Prior,Pedro,Colon)..I can just remember Loaiza being dominant whether it be winning or losing (lost 1-0 games, couple other games)...

December 14, 200322 yr Loaiza > Colon. Colon was hot and cold. A good guy to have, but certainly not our best. I never said Colon was our best pitcher from last year. In fact, I believe, word for word, I said Loaiza was the best pitcher from last year on the White Sox. I said Colon was the most dominant pitcher. And from mid-August till mid-September, he showed that he was the most dominant pitcher. He was fooling nobody with his stuff, and people were still getting no where close to hitting him hard. That was dominance. Esteban was very good all year long, but he never seemed to totally dominate and shut people down. Maybe it was because of the fact that he never had a complete game or that he barely threw 200 innings or maybe just because of the fact that he just does not have overpowering stuff. Whatever it is/was, he just does not have overpowering stuff.
