April 17, 200322 yr This is my review of the starting lineup and rotation. It consists of my short review and their stats: Lineup: D'Angelo Jimenez: Has been extravagent. Gets on base, drives in runs, plays small ball. Has been hitting lights out. Makes everything look effortless. Defense has been better than expected. Stats: .302 AVG, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 32 Total Bases, .403 OBP Jose Valentin: Has shored up his defense and is hitting well. He has been able to play small ball with sac flies and bunts. Hitting with power as of late. Stats: .298 AVG, 4 HR, 9 RBI, 31 Total Bases, .400 OBP Frank Thomas: Has been on base in every single game this season. Has stepped up and driven in key runs. Swing is developing very well. Stats: .220 AVG, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 16 Total Bases, .433 OBP Magglio Ordonez: Has struggled lately. Is swinging too hard. Pops up a lot. Has been getting on base via walks and leads the Sox in steals. (3) Stats: .296 AVG, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 25 Total Bases, .344 OBP Paul Konerko: Still hasnt gotten out of the early season slump. Has been benched a couple times. Defense is good and when he is in the lineup, he has the ability to get on base because he can wok the count in his favor. Stats: .174 AVG, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 12 Total Bases, .264 OBP Carlos Lee: What can I say! He is not that great! Stats: .174 AVG, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 8 Total Bases, .255 OBP Joe Crede: Has hit the ball well. Defense as expected, great. Gets on base and gets RBI's in the times of need. Keeps good innings going. Stats: .320 AVG, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 22 Total Bases, .340 OBP Aaron Rowand: Has not hit the ball well at all. Has been benched for Rios' hot bat. Defense is great but needs to work on getting out of the slump. Stats: .188 AVG, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 8 Total Bases, .212 OBP Sandy Alomar Jr: Could be the hottest guy on the Sox right now. Has only played when Buehrle and Colon pitch but he takes advantage. He has been on a tear. Stats: .400 AVG, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 17 Total Bases, .423 OBP Rotation: Mark Buehrle: Has been the tough luck pitcher. Gets taken out in the 8th with a lead and the bullpen blows it, giving him a ND. Has pitched well and his stuff is on. Stats: 2-1, 1.57 ERA, 28.2 IP, 12 K's, 8 BB Bartolo Colon: Has pitched spectacular but gets virtually no run support. Got his 1st Sox victory against Detroit. Stats: 1-0, 3.32 ERA, 19.0 IP, 17 K's, 8 BB Jon Garland: The real tough luck pitcher. Pitches badly in the 1st and 2nd innings and then settles down without the lead. Pitched well versus KC last night, but got a ND, because Marte gave up a HR. Stats: 0-1, 5.82 ERA, 17.0 IP, 9 K's, 7 BB Esteban Loazia: Both starts have been vs. Detroit but he pitched awesome in both. Faces KC tonight, a real challenge. Stats: 2-1, 1.23 ERA, 14.2 IP, 8 K's, 3 BB Josh Stewart: Has had 2 starts. 1st was great 2nd wasnt so good. Has been up and down. We'll see how he does in his next ML start. Stats: 0-1, 4.91 ERA, 11.0 IP, 7 K's, 4 BB
