What will it take for some people to think!?

As a father of two small children, this pisses me off so bad. I don't want to say, "It serves you right," but it's the only thing that come to mind right now.

GARY, Ind. -- A search is scheduled to resume Thursday for a toddler who was ejected from a sport utility vehicle into the Calumet River Wednesday.

It happened at about 8 p.m. on Interstate 90 near Cline Avenue.

The 2-year-old girl's mother was driving east when her SUV struck the concrete barrier wall and rolled, police said.

The child was ejected from the overpass into the river, and witnesses said she drifted downstream to the railroad overpass. Police said the distance from the overpass to the river is 50 to 75 feet.

The Gary Fire Department assisted in the search with their dive team and Indiana State Police and Toll Road authorities, but the search was called off at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Two adults were in the front seat and two of the toddler's sisters were also in the back seat. Officials said the toddler's sisters were wearing seat belts, but are investigating whether the victim was strapped into a proper car seat.

The toddler's mother was treated for minor injuries.
