Knott ripped a two-run double in the first inning to open the scoring. Greene laced an RBI single in the sixth inning to extend the lead for Mobile to 5-0. Bobby Scales went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the BayBears, who won their third straight home game. Brad Baker (1-4) yielded a hit and struck out two over two innings for the win and Rusty Tucker allowed a hit and a pair of walks in the ninth for his 13th save. Danny Sandoval and Guillermo Reyes both drove home a run in the seventh frame for Birmingham, which dropped to 5-4 on its current road trip. Neal Cotts (6-2) gave up all five runs, seven hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings for the loss.
