He was taking a throw from the catcher on a stolen base..... Tried to catch and make the tag and just flat out pulled the glove away too quickly and the ball nailed him squarely in the face.

Bad night for getting hit in the face. An even worse injury tonight was in a CWS game. A player for Cal State Fullerton took a fast ball squarely in the face on a bunt attempt. Was not pretty.

full moon tonite or what...............fights and pops in the face not a good thing ...........

It was a bizarre night. All of the above incidents.... Hampton pitching into the 8th with a no hitter, then Smoltz, of all people, blowing a save.

 

Of course, the fact that no one on our team can get a sacrifice bunt accomplished, that's not bizarre at all.
