June 30, 200322 yr Not much new to say about this kid, other than DON"T trade him. One stat that might have been overlooked is Stolen Bases. At W/S he was was 27 out of 33; at B-ham he is 6 out of 8. His average is up to an insane .463. Everytime he gets promoted, his stats get better.
June 30, 200322 yr And to think, every so-called "draft expert" thought the Sox were idiots for selecting this guy in the 2nd round. What a steal, and if he develops some power, look out.
June 30, 200322 yr Author Cerb, I did not know that. You say the Sox were criticized for drafting Reed?

June 30, 200322 yr Yes, we were told that he was a real 'stretch' in 2nd round. Best outlook for him at that time was a possible 4th outfielder, no arm, decent speed, only thing he did that anyone liked was led a team in hitting in Pan-am games with a wood bat. His last year in college his average really went down, to about .338 or something. So he was projected at 'best' a top 5 round draftee, round 3-5 being his best outlook.

I think Reed has the skills and additude to propel him far in this bussiness... his agent must be gooing in his jockey's
June 30, 200322 yr I think he was considered a "fringe" 2nd rounder. Is that accurate Cerb? Most experts thought Reed would go in the 4th or 5th round. Looks like a steal in the 2nd rounder to me.
