Chicago general manager's sons get community service, probation

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Associated Press

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) _ The sons of Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams have received community service and probation on charges stemming from two car break-ins in May.

The charges against Dedrick Quinn Williams, 21, and Kenny Royal, 16, will be dropped if they complete 150 hours of community service, remain on unsupervised probation for 12 months and don't get into trouble during that time, according to Durham District Court documents of June 26.

The baseball executive and his family were in Durham for his daughter's graduation from Duke University.

The brothers were arrested in the early morning hours of May 10 and charged with two counts each of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and larceny, and one count of possessing stolen goods.

A credit card and a student ID card were stolen from a woman's car, and a stereo, cell phone jack and stereo faceplate were stolen from another car, warrants said. When they were arrested, Dedrick Williams and Royal were carrying those items, warrants said.
