Featured Replies

I did some googling and found just a little bit about this guy:

Full Name: Sergio Morales

Born: December 17,1987 in St. Croix, Virgin Islands

Height: 6-1

Weight: 190

Bats: Right

Throws: Right

High School: Hollywood Hills (Hollywood, Florida) "Spartans"

College: Broward College

Drafted: Selected by Chicago White Sox in 12th Round (375th overall) of 2006 amateur entry draft (June-Reg)

Apparently he was also ranked the 25th best prospect in Florida by BA.

Sergio Morales, OF:

A raw talent from the Virgin Islands who was drafted in the 12th round of 2006 out of community college in Florida, the 20-year-old Morales hit .270 with six homers, 24 RBIs and 11 steals at Bristol. He's expected to start his first full season in center field at Kannapolis.

"He's probably one of the best five-tool athletes in camp," Regier said. "He has a chance to hit, hit for power and run well."

A White Sox official confirmed that Broward County (Fla.) Community College outfielder Sergio Morales signed for fifth-round money, and will report to extended spring training in Arizona next week. The White Sox drafted Morales in the 12th round last year. “This guy is a tool shed,” a scout said.

His minor league career so far:

YEAR---CLUB----G------AB----R----H----2B---3B---HR--RBI--SB--CS--BB---K----AVG---OBP----SLG---OPS

2007----Bristol--55-----196---35---53---8-----2----6----24---11---3----14---67---.270---.326---.423---.749

2008----Kanny--112---401----62---90---24---2----6----27---18---2----50---132--.224---.311---.339---.650

2009----Kanny--16-----62-----6----19---4-----3----1----10----3---0-----4----19---.306---.353---.516---.869

Anyone know anything about his defense, range, arm, etc.? He's off to a great start for Kanny, although the K rate is still pretty concerning. It's nice to see that over 40% of his hits so far have gone for extra bases. Hopefully he can keep it going and move up to take Danks' spot once he gets promoted to Birmingham.
