Polar Plunge 2010

Featured Replies

Has anyone here done the Polar Plunge before? Or is doing the 2010 polar plunge? I just signed up with a group to do this and I thought, "how awesome would this be if we could get a huge portion of Soxtalk to do this with us. The plunge provides 75% of the funding for the special olympics, so what better of a group to get together than this Chicago online sports community. The plunge takes place on March 7th. Do you guys want to join our group to meet all the other Soxtalkers and form the largest fundraising group for the PP? I know I'd personally like to actually meet some of the people on here.

If I'm not being to ambitious and you're interested in checking it out, go to their website.

If you join our group (Team Liquid Courage), we're going to be doing some pre and postgaming at a local tavern, so it is sure to be a fun time and a good opportunity for you to network, (if you're looking to). Send me a PM if you want to do this.

Did it January 11th, pacific was like 76 ha. relative small but it was for charity.

My girlfriend and a group of her friends are doing it. I am helping out and doing my part by watching our friends' kids while they do it.

I'd be right there with you if I was in town. Great cause.

I'd rather be in warm water, but having to get into cold-ass water is sometimes one of the hazards of my occupation. I spent an hour trudging around waste deep in 51ºF water without a wet suit a couple of weeks ago looking for a certain species of crab for a new display at our public visitor center. Of course that crabs were smarter than was and had all moved into warmer water! My legs were numb for a couple of hours after that.
