It would be virtually impossible to turn Schoenweis into a starter this late in the season. I think someone pointed out that he hasn't gone more than 2 1/3 IP all season long. And like KW said, they got him to be in the 'pen, and perhaps they'll give him a shot at a starting spot in 2004. I'd rather promote someone from AAA to start (or maybe trade for a starter), release Rick White, and then move Wright to the bullpen. That would be the best thing IMO.

A promotion from AAA would work, but I wouldn't want to see a rookie in the rotation in the playoffs. Though a fifth starter hardly gets PT in the playoffs.

No, a 5th starter would not get a playoff start. Hopefully, we'll need at least 4 starters come playoff time. :)
