How did KW let Jeff Nelson get by us?

Featured Replies

Of all the trade deadline and post deadline deals, the one that concerns me the most is Jeff Nelson to the Yankees for Armando Benitez. Nelson was one of the good luck charms that helped the Yanks to 4 WS wins in 5 years. He's murder as a set up guy against right handers (anyone notice that is what our team is loaded with?). Benitez, on the other hand, was a blown save waiting to happen every time he took the mound.

And what gets me is the Sox had to pass on Nelson -- who'd look mighty fine in a Sox uniform right about now -- for the Yanks to get him. (I can't believe Boston also didn't step in to block it.)

If the Sox face the Yankees in October, we'll just have to pound the Yankee starters so Nelson isn't a factor.

What reliever to we have that Seattle would want? We would have had to trade someone for Nelson.

We probably would have had to of given up Marte or Gordon. I don't think so. Nelson is a stud(did you see what he did to Boone tonight? When his stuff is on, you'd have to be lucky to even hit the f***ing ball), but I wouldn't want to give up one of our stud relievers to get him.

Agreed. It's not like the Yanks robbed the Mariners. They gave up a quality guy as well...Even though they had him for all of 2 weeks...

And, IMO, Nelson is better then Benetiz. That's why NY made the deal.
