Peoria TV station announces WGN Sox games airing

Featured Replies

Channel 59 WAOE Peoria / Bloomington, IL (my59) again will be airing Sox games this season in HD on free television. The announcement was made a few days ago at the station's facebook page:

The amount of games airing and "the broadcast schedule will be shared ASAP", but I suspect all 55 WGN Sports-produced Sox games will air. Additionally, 2 Crosstown games with Cubs announcers (not included in the 55) likely will air:

July 25th, Cubs at Sox, produced by ABC7 (WLS-TV)

July 27th, Sox at Cubs, produced by WGN Sports (WGN-TV)

I stand corrected because today the Peoria TV station released it's White Sox broadcast schedule, however 47 out of 55 Sox games will be aired on free television in 2016 (plus 2 more Crosstown games with Cubs announcers):

The reason is that eight WGN Sox telecasts conflict with ABC7 Cubs telecasts, and WAOE has decided to air the Cubs games instead during conflicts. Last season, there were 4 conflicts, but the Sox WGN telecasts were prioritized over the Cubs. The missing 8 games are:

May 25 - Cleveland at White Sox

May 28 - White Sox at Kansas City

June 26 - Toronto at White Sox

July 17 - White Sox at Angels

July 24 - Detroit at White Sox

August 26 - Seattle at White Sox

September 4 - White Sox at Minnesota

September 18 - White Sox at Kansas City

A possible solution could be to move the Sox games to sub-channel 59-2 (Antenna TV) during conflicts, but the station may not have ability / equipment to air games simultaneously. Peoria viewers who have decent antennas, should be able to receive the missing 8 Sox games on Quad Cities Channel 8-3 WQAD-TV Moline (my network TV), which transmits from a tower just 60 miles away at Orion, Illinois.

The WAOE Cubs broadcast schedule was also released today, which confirms the 2 Crosstown games airing on July 25th and 27th with Cubs announcers:
