Cedar Rapids TV station again will air all WGN games

KCRG-TV Cedar Rapids (covering Cedar Rapids / Waterloo / Iowa City) announced today that all Sox games produced by WGN Sports will air again on free television for the 2016 season.

57 White Sox games will be telecast on 2 different sub-channels:

Channel 9-2 (my network TV) - 52 games (50 games + 1 pre-season + 1 Crosstown with Cubs announcers)

Channel 9-3 (Antenna TV) - 5 games

KCRG-TV was sold late last year to a new owner (Gray Television bought the station from Cedar Rapids Gazette). The new company has decided to continue airing WGN Sox and Cubs telecasts, but I have noticed a few changes:

- No Sox games airing this year on the primary channel 9-1 (ABC). Last season 5 Sox games were shown on the main channel.

- The single pre-season Sox game produced by WGN Sports is airing. Previously this game was not included.

- KCRG-TV apparently is not airing Cubs games produced by ABC7 (WLS-TV) in 2016. I suspect a new affiliate will be announced later for the 25 games, which includes 1 Crosstown games against the Sox on July 25th.

I've said this before...

This is great information. But I don't think we need a separate thread for each city/market/channel. Maybe just keep one thread about local affiliates airing WGN/WPWR games?
