I'd agree. Madrigal is a massive health concern with a ceiling that is arguable.
I think Madrigal has a high floor and low ceiling with injury concerns.

You just compared Gallo to Dunn, so not sure what Engel has anything to do about it. The point is Gallo is a monster with the bat and the glove, so his floor is certainly not Adam Dunn even if his offense breaks bad.
Someone said he had a GG. Yes, in a shortened season. You already have good defense in Adam Engel. I would rather play Sheets in RF for his bat and sub Engel in as a replacement than give up a bunch of prospects for a 1yr and 2 months of control.

Dunn played a gold glove caliber RF?
You already have that in Engel.

Gallo is on pace for a 6+ win season and he’s still very young, meaning the Rangers can extent & build around him. The Rangers are going to need at least one top 100 prospect plus other stuff at a minimum. Unfortunately for us Crochet is the only guy that fits the bill.
I've already seen the Adam Dunn show, and I don't want to see it again.

We need to start getting him some reps at 2B.
LOL.....No! That's an injury waiting to happen.
If he keeps this up, and Eloy is ready to return, maybe a conversation with Moncada going to 2B needs to be had.

Take the catcher.

I really don't think teams would be interested in any of the Kanny pitchers, they've all been pretty awful.
If the Sox want to make a deal, they'd probably have to trade either Madrigal or Crochet.
Nothing on the trade block would warrant that return.

I would not being giving up Kelley or Thompson, unless something blew you away. I don't think Stiever is going to be anything more than a AAAA pitcher.

Step 1: Call up rookie
Step 2: Don't start him

Burger + Stiever + Thompson + Rodriguez?
Yes or No?
That's a decent haul IMO especially considering the injury history, but it's fair and the gamble could be worth it for the Sox, given how much the corner OF situation would improve.
Again it only works if you think pretty highly of at least 1 of Burger/Stiever.
I think Stiever is nothing more than a AAAA guy. I see him as Erik Johnson.

So now that Vaughn has hit his 1st HR any takers who want to predict the number of HR's he will hit? You can predict a total number or take the over/under of 13 I set.
I would take the over. I think he is going to hit 15hrs this year. I think after this season, he is going to be a 20-25hr every day player.

And we could of figured this out in 2019 instead of playing Machado's brother in law.

I certainly hope they are not using him on short rest.
He threw 40 pitches. I am sure he is gonna be fine.

No way I am making any major trades atm. I think this is the perfect time to see if Collins can hit.

Here is 16-30 from our preseason top 30 prospect's list: https://www.futuresox.com/2021/02/23/top-white-sox-prospect-rankings-preseason-2021-16-30/
What does everyone want to know?
How can we take you seriously, when you put Jake Burger on this list?

I really do not like the idea of starting the year with Kopech in the bullpen. Get that extra year of team control back by starting him down in AAA and slowly ramping up. I’m definitely worried we’re going to do short-term focused things with Kopech & Crochet to appease La Russa that end up shortening the window.
You have to think short term. The goal is the WS, if that is obtained, I think at that point you can think long term. At this point, the extra year on Kopech doesn't matter.

But it's LAD that is standing in Hahn's way of achieving multiple championships.
Until the Sox are owned by affluent sportsmen that càn compete with LAD, the Sox may contend but not win.
Do you really think LAD fans àre tossing and turning in their sleep worrying about the 100 plus million the team owners may end up paying Bauer?
They have expectations.
The Reinsdorf Experience in any other major market wouldn't have lasted 3 years let alone 40.
And in those 40 years they've made the post seasons 6 friggin times and it took a group of journeymen ballplayers having collective career years for them to get pass the first round in the only time they did.
I agree. If this were Pittsburgh, I think it would be fine. But being in a major market, it honestly is an embarrassment.

Again, just because he hasn't signed one, doesn't mean they haven't offered an extension.
I am pretty sure Cease was offered one, and declined.
I am not going to play the possible vs probable game. There is a precedence with Jerry and signing pitchers. It is not going to happen with Giolito. It is going to be a Sale 2.0 kind of trade.

So will every starter worth their salt that won't give us a major hometown discount.
They missed the boat on offering him a extension. I think the plan is, offering Lynn a 2yr extension, hoping Ceasing makes a jump this year(although he turned down an extension), and hoping Kopech makes a leap to lessen the trading of Giolito. I would guess, they offer Kopech an extension sometime between now and next offseason.
This team is set up for a 3yr window with a lot of things.
-
If Jerry is still running this organization in 3yrs, Giolito will be traded.

It appears this was going to come down to signing a reclamation project of either Rodon, Foltynewicz or Archer. They went with the guy they already have all the tape and records on.
I would of went Archer.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous to compare Burnes to Giolito. But do you really think their trade costs would be similar at this point in time?
Trade Eaton for him.
Rodon to get QO?

Everyone better get ready for an offseason of no spending. There is no way Jerry gives Hahn more money if he offers the QO as well as Kimbrel's option.
