  1. QUOTE(barnes @ May 18, 2007 -> 09:04 AM) I think it strikes some of us as a bad ad campaign because it still rings true for many people. As I was walking to the park this week, someone asked me, "Hey, I can't find Jimbo's, where is it???" all excited as if he wanted to really see the place. I felt like casual fans shouldn't have to ask where the nearest bar is if they want to grab a drink before the game, but maybe the layout with the parking lots just doesn't work with that concept. And it's not like it took that much time for me to tell the guy. haha...I have no idea what this post means? You don't like that the guy had to ask you for directions?
  2. QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 18, 2007 -> 07:56 AM) I think it's incredibly cheesy. Not to mention, I'm against any advertising campaign that pokes or jabs at the Cubs at all. This is why Cubs fans commonly say Sox fans have penis envy, because a lot of them do. Like defeating the Twins in the bottom of the 9th, and then chanting Cubs Suck down the rampway...WTF is that. Fans who care about the Cubs that much are jackasses, IMO, and they annoy me. Stop thinking or worrying about the Cubs until we play them -- like over the next three days. Commercials like this breed this line of thought. Sox fans worrying about the Cubs when they need to be worrying about the Tigers, Indians and Twins is a tad on the obsessive side, and reeks of "little brother" syndrome. I just don't see the fans that care more about the cubs than anything else. I read about them in the paper....I hear about them on the news. Bruce Wolf did a whole spiel on it this morning. How Sox fans don't care about anything except the cubs losing. I have heard about it my whole life, but all the fans I know aren't like that. Now your scenario on the rampway sounds ridiculous. Unless some fans were ripping on a guy in cubs jersey. To which I say...rip away if he is at the Sox Twins game with a Cubs jersey on. He wore it to get s*** said to him. OR I could see it if the next game was against the cubs and fans were cheering kinda like..."They're next" Other than that it sounds ridiculous to me and I would venture to say 95% of Sox fans would agree. I don't find the campaign particularly funny, but I have no problem with it. If Cubs fans want to say we have penis envy then we say they have World Series Championship envy. But this whole "Sox fans care more about what the cubs do" garbage is just BS. I just don't see it.
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ May 18, 2007 -> 03:18 AM) I don't even like Pay-rod, but you're being ridiculous. ditto
  4. QUOTE(PlunketChris @ May 17, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) do we have a new "hawkism" wit hthe "throw it through a teacup to get a strike" or did have I missed that one the past 10 years of listening to him? you've missed it. He's used it many times.
  5. QUOTE(bad at best @ May 17, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) ozzie doesnt. Nope...mac on the bump. Jeter gone. 6-3
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) Aardsma falls behind 2-0 again, and make it behind 3-0 to Phelps. Abreu on deck, he'd probably get Thornton if Phelps reaches. 3-1 is hit deep, and damn that thing went about 415 feet into the wind. 5-3 Sox. Yep, here comes Thornton to face Abreu. The count got him. Have to pitch strikes dude. Lets go Matt!!!
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) I agree based on pure strategy with the move to take Danks out (and it worked out at least there), but also keep in mind that we have 6 games in 5 days. Danks only threw 90 pitches today, many of which were low stress. We could start him Sunday against the Cubs now maybe, and with the day off next Thursday, his next start would be on 5 days rest. Yeah... I think he'll go Sunday.
  8. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) Excuse me? I'm guessing he means a person can't say "we" when referring to their favorite team. To which I say....whatever. Inning ova!!!!
  9. QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) sac fly, Mack scores looked like he might have left early though Torre is coming out to argue Mack leaving early. There's a discussion.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:46 PM) JD with a double... That makes hits for the 3-4-5-6 hitters in our line up... I wonder when the last time that happened was? Are things gettin contagious?? We'll take the free pass...Come on Crede...catch the fever!!!!!!!!!! I send Danks out. he's pitching solid. Hasn't gotten some calls, but he's dealing.
  11. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) If the Sox actually took pitches the Umpiring may be consistent. Scrolling through the Gameday, I can't find anyone that has taken more than one strike. AJ ---- HR Ya. It's like this ump can't judge Danks hook. He has gotten squeezed a lot unless it is a straight 12-6. If it comes on an angle he gets screwed.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) Danks's hard luck will turn good eventually. Free runs, bad offense, robbed homers. It will turn around. 6 k's for Danks, basically 1 ER HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) What the hell ump!!!!!!!! So melky just accounted for 3 runs...taking 2 away from us and driving one in himself.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) If John was getting the same zone Moose is, he might have a no hitter going right now. There is another bulls*** squeeze, 3-1 count. This ump is a HUGE Yankee fan apparently. Fair ball, and we're tied. 2nd and 3rd 2 outs. Tie game. Cabrera and the umps have combined to turn what could be a 4-1 game into a 2-2 tie. What the hell ump!!!!!!!!
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) Danks with 64 pitches through 5, very efficient. I'll take 13 pitches an inning.
