  1. For those interested I'd like to throw my site into the mix: South Siders WPA

I was just talking to Jason about it and I know not everyone here is huge on stats, but figure at least a few people will find it interesting. I'm trying to log every game I can and welcome everyone's comments.

I'm planning on adding a SoxTalk specific post later this week, as I've actually had a couple of Japanese Sox fans e-mail regarding the site and I've referred them over here.

We are now 5-1 in games in which Thome homers and 0-4 in games in which he doesn't. That won't last obviously.

Also, great game for Pablo tonight. He now leads the team in hitting, and has an OPS over 1.100. Crede was good as well.

It was good to see Pablo step back in there and have a positive game.

Well, Cliff would have eventually come in the game and his suckitude would have looked much worse, if that is even possible.

Obviously could have been the case.

You can also say he might have come in with a 6 run lead, instead of 2.

Not that any of it matters now.

you gotta be joking, Cliff didn't hurt us?  He gave up 4 runs.

Whole different game if Anderson gets a hit in either of the bases loaded situations.

I should have said Cliff obviously didn't help us, but it was no where near the turning point of the game.

  5. This woman I work with, who is extremely smart, met someone on Myspace back in Jan and is now living with him and engaged. The guy doesn't have a job and has a psycho ex-girlfriend who stalks him and my co-worker...and she doesn't see anything wrong with it.

It's not just at IU.  I'm sure Purdue fans aren't too damned happy with what is going on there.

Rule basketball in Indiana and you rule the state.

Painter's going to make a difference, his recruiting last year showed that. I'm very glad they finally made a change and have full confidence in Painter. This year has been so frustrating with the injuries and personal issues. I'm looking forward to next year with everyone back (hopefully).

  7. I'm sure anyone that has tickets is at the Fest right now and this is a shot in the dark, but...

If anyone has a pair for either tomorrow or Sunday, I'd gladly take them off your hands. Plans changed and I'll be in town this weekend. I've contacted a couple of people on here that had some, but hadn't heard back yet. Thanks!

I made a point to show my pops that banner.  How kick ass is that?  Someone should e-mail that to Brooks, because the White Sox would be nuts to not make a commercial based on the idea.  Seriously.

    He's right. It'd be a great commercial.

  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 04:22 PM)
The thing I don't get is that the media says that his strength in college was throwing the deep ball.  Whenever I watched Purdue games, it seemed like every pass was a 7 yard slant.

Outside of the slants, he threw the occasional long ball, and usually hit it. He's got a cannon...not that that means he's going to be accurate. As soon as he was shaken mentally, he'd start missing receivers all over the place.

Am I the only one here who saw it and thought it sucked?

I wouldn't go that far, but I have to say I was disappointed.

For those that have read the book, does it go into more detail about his family or expand a bit past the end of the movie?
