  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 08:57 PM)
    Yeah, why did they not just take a team need in Brooks?

    Bulls are deep, so they packaged some assets for a possible elite talent down the line. I think it was a good move, even with some talented SG's available. They might end up with Hamilton anyways at 30.

  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 08:42 PM)
    I dont think Smith is a terrible pick as he should be solid. At this point in the draft its whoever you like more.

    He was a dynamite college player. But he's not quick enough to get by PG's and at 6'2 isn't going to be lighting the world on fire at SG. At best I think he's a career reserve that could add some offense.

  3. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:21 PM)
    Yikes. Even saying Serge Ibaka is a stretch right now much less a multi-time DPOY.

    He's an even better athlete than Ibaka. Biyombo has a tremendous work ethic and is the most athletic big man I have ever seen. He may never develop an offensive game, but he will immediately provide a defensive presence while his offense progresses.

  4. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:14 PM)
    Remember Saer Sene? What a f***in bust

    The only similarity with Sene and Biyombo is that they are both from Africa. Sene was drafted for his lean 7' size and 7' 8 wingspan. Biyombo is an even better athlete than Amar'e coming out of high school and already has an NBA body. At worst I think he will develop into Ben Wallace. That's assuming he makes no strides offensively as a supposed 18 year old.

  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 06:55 PM)
    You just lost Lebron James and the future of your organization is, well, there is no future. You go all-in and hope for the best. What exactly is the worst that could happen?

    Brandon Knight and Williams are great athletes, but they are also tweeners. Knight is not a natural PG. He's a SG in a PG's body. Williams is a 6'8 240 pound PF that wants to play SF.

    Irving and Kanter have clearly defined positions and tremendous skillsets for those positions.

  6. Wisconsin might get their doors blown off this year in Chapel Hill,

    http://blogs.fayobserver.com/accbasketball...isconsin-AD-Pat

    “I know darn well that you’ll never get Roy Williams here,” he said. “He just won’t come to Wisconsin; he’s afraid the people are going to boo him and everything else. I think that’s all bogus. … There were times when we should have had them at our place and it never happened. I think Roy Williams squeals. And he’s never really had to pay his dues, so to speak, like a Bo Ryan or a Dick Bennett.”

    :lolhitting what? 5 years as high school coach and 10 years as an assistant coach isn't paying dues?

  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:28 AM)
    He really is an idiot if thinks Yoga is more important than a post up game, and that pretty much proves the point.

    LeBron's inability to even back-down JJ Barea is forever burned in to my mind. Everything with LeBron is in his mindset. He has all the physical tools and work ethic to be the greatest, but he just doesn't have the killer instinct. Jordan, Kobe, and even Paul Pierce would be licking their chops having a guy like Barea on your hip.

  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 11:01 AM)
    The guys that always come to mind for me are Chris Webber and Shawn Kemp. Webber had everything KG had and was even a little stronger but never had nearly the impact. Kemp was obviously a freakish athlete that made a lot of highlight reels, but never really had the offensive skills to put up like 25 a game and ate his way out of the league.

    I have to disagree with you on Webber. He averaged around 21 ppg, 10 rpg, and 4 apg for his career, including a four year stretch where he averaged 25 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.5 bpg, and 1.5 spg.

  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 12:42 PM)
    TWolves sign Rubio. Terms not disclosed. I'm not high on him but looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about. Hopefully sooner than later.

    Anybody else watching these old drafts on NBATV? it's a who's who of draft flops.

    I'm expecting a Jason Williams "White Chocalate" type impact early on with a lot of flash and flair, but limited substance.

  10. Dalembert seems to legitimately be interested in the Heat.

    "As for Dalembert, the Heat will have competition from the Knicks, the Kings and several others. The 6-11 Dalembert — who averaged 8.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 24 minutes per game this season — expressed strong interest in the Heat during a March visit to Miami. But he was vague at a Heat playoff game last month. “I haven’t given it thought,” he said of his plans. But the Heat meets at least two of his criteria: “I want to play for a team that can win a championship. And a team that can run the fast break. Miami has a good one.”

    “We’ll see,” he said, adding he would “like to be in a place that appreciates me.” Dalembert has a home in Boca Raton and that could work in the Heat’s favor, but only if Miami can make a competitive offer. He has traveled with the Heat on earthquake relief missions to Haiti."

    http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

    He would be a great pick-up, and would allow the Heat to just draft the best player available at 31.

  11. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:45 PM)
    Aside from ditching Spoelstra for a legit head coach, what you would like to see Miami do in the offseason to improve their team?

    They need to somehow find legit talent for the bench, one guy that can come in and average 10 ppg. Playing an expired Mike Bibby, Eddy House, Juwan Howard, etc just isn't going to cut it.

    They also need a legit talent at PG and C in the starting lineup. Outside of tonights abysmal game, Mario Chalmers started to make some progress. But he still got abused by JJ Barea all series long.

    From what I can tell, Miami seems to have the 31st pick in the draft, so they might be able to add a legit talent to the rotation. I'm just hoping they somehow can end up with an athletic center that can defender, rebound, and not worry about having to score.

  12. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 05:50 PM)
    Good to see Jordan Danks staying consistent in the batters box. Nothing earth shattering but still, our farm system needs that from him. Now if he slowly improve his BA and his OBP, he could become a major prospect for the Sox's outfield again.

    You really still are hanging on to hope? Even after the interview with Buddy Bell basically said his swing didn't respond well to the coaching and reverted back to the norm? He's going to be 25 years old in less than two months, I just don't see it.

  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:30 PM)
    Yeah, im pretty sure i JUST explained that I decided to follow the Heat once LeBron and Co. signed up there.. and the Heat SIGNATURE that I had was because they had the jerseys lined up to say "3:16" which, as a wrestling fan, I liked..

    I don't really care if you think I bandwagoned the Heat.. You act like I was a diehard Celtics fan and all of the sudden switched to Miami.. I already told you, im not a huge NBA fan.. I like certain players more than I like actual teams

    You can't catch too much grief for being a Heat fan. There's only like 10 of us in the world now.

  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 10:05 PM)
    They're going to be tough with those two, but no matter how talented a team is, nothing is ever guaranteed. Health issues could pop up, LBJs curious vanishing act in the 4th could become the norm, they might not entirely jell and other things can occur.

    The Heat are going to have to come to the understanding that Wade is the first option, and LeBron can be the facilitator that he seems to prefer. Put Riley back on the bench next year and they will be ok.
