  1. Yep, I'm from Orange County.  We have quite a few posters from Socal.  A lot of us will be representing the Sox in Anaheim and LA.  You going to be at any of those games?

Dude I SOOOO want to, but instead I might be heading to Dallas to visit my brother and see a few games in Arlington that weekend after the Angels series. Haven't seen him since '98 and Sox4Life is up there also, so that's the plan.

I also get paid that Thursday and it's not a rent check. The series in Anaheim I might be tapped out for because another brother of mine from Chicago is flying out here the week before to catch the Padres/Cubs series (stupid Cubs fan....I'll have my Pads gear on those 3 games).

  2. Finally someone else that has watched some Padres games.  There was no real issue there with him being lazy.  The only issue was D'Angelo never knowing where he was going to be played and kind of getting pushed around.  He could of handled it better, but from hearing Padre great Randy Jones talk about him he was a hard worker who played his butt off.  He may not be everyones friend, neither is Bonds, but that doesn't mean Bonds is lazy.  Some players make things look easy and they get the lazy rap to them.  I don't think DJ is lazy.  No one could come back from his injury to play baseball at this level if he was "Lazy".

Oh ya In San Diego he showed them a whole lot of potential.  I know tons of people around the organization loved him, from hearing them talk about him on the air, etc.

You're absolutely right about that. Lee Hacksaw Hamilton, who is a radio guru out here in SoCal for years, raved about Jimenez and kept telling the Pads to "not give up on this kid just because he's had some tough-luck injuries..."

My NL team is the Pads, so when that trade was made (being how Jimenez was my favorite player here outside of Nevin) I was ecstatic even though it meant nothing for last year because we were pretty much out of it at that point.

Jimenez is NOT Harris. Let him develop at an AL level and he'll be better then Durham was in a year or two.

  3. Yo bmr! I used to post with you on espn during the old "Sox Army"days led by Sonny. I was Ugly then also along with Kids Can Play and Fisk72.

Anyways, you happen to catch Sonny's hit and run posts about 3 weeks back on our board and the Twins board over there, degrading the Sox? What a punk he has turned into, I swear. IDseer got into it with him, and he left without coming back. Was pitiful.

  4. Sucks to have the only AL game on tonight be the Twinkies/Royals.

We just GOT TO sweep the O's. No questions asked.

Counting down the days till Harris gets demoted. Please start Rios in CF this series, JM!

  5. A few questions:

Are you going back to ESPN if a certain name should cease to post any more?

Hmmm, so we're sticking with the objective system which rules out pitchers.

       :nono    :fyou  :finger

I will go back on occasion, but I have put my tent up here.

I was just lazy in getting to know this site a few months back when I first stated I was leaving there. Now I had some time to get adjusted, and I can honestly say this site rules. 4 years or so I have steered clear of here and WSI with an occassional hit and run post just because espn was so much easier. Now the trolls can have that board.

  6. In 1999 at AAA Columbus, he hit .327 with an OBP of .392.

In over a 1/3 of a season (59 games) so far with the Sox since we traded for him, he's hitting .294 with a .390 OBP.

So while I'm "cognisant" of the fact that he's never done it for a full season in the majors (he's done it for a season in the minors, as I said -- just .08 short in the OBP category), he's definitely got more potential to do so than Aaron Miles.

And "as bad" as he was with the Padres, his career avg is .270 and his career OBP is .351.  That's not too shabby for a guy that many of you seem to hate.

Absolutely right. Give the D some time to adjust to his first full season healthy in years. I watched him for almost 3 season here in SD to know the type of potential he has. Those "lazy" statements made by Klesko and Nevin were BS. :nono

  7. Piazza addressed the subject Sunday when asked about a story in the current of issue of Playboy that quotes the star catcher as saying....

..."First of all, I'm not gay. I'm a heterosexual."

Tony Bruno always plays that sound bite when they talk about Mikey.

    LMAO!

  8. I kinda liked and respected Jerry, his handling of 1999-2000 teams in particular.  I bet if Thomas doesn't get injured in 2001 and Wells-Fogg/Rithie fiasco is somehow averted Garland-Erstad style...things turn out differently, I really think so.  Sadly we can only speculate at this point.

I'll miss him if he indeed goes. No way in hell should he be gone before KW and especially Gary Ward, though.

Well just think if Garland for Erstad would have happened then. We'd have a superb CF with the glove, and not a bad bat either.

  9. Frank is a SHELL of the man he was, I hope this is FT last year with the SOX.

Oh, it will most definately be. The organization cannot continue to employ this guy who continually rips the team/teammates and mlb.

  10. Gently untwist the panties...grab some valium.....take a deep breath or two....momo.

I recall using "I think" before stating my opinion....nice to be wrong for a change.

Whoa! Momo? You're from espn too, huh?

    Stop Thief!

  11. Yeah man she's fine. She had her 2-year physical on Friday and when the doc showed me the growth chart and where she fell, I was pleased.

Check this out though. Yesterday when I was gassing up my car before taking her to McDonalds for breakfast, I locked her in the car with the keys inside before I was gonna take her out to go get my change from inside. Some dude came back like 20 minutes later with a slim jim, but before he could get the front door open, she unbuckled her harness and unlocked the back door, with some coaching from me.

Unbelieveable how my 2 1/2 year old is now my hero. :)

  12. Man I thought my Kings were done when Webber went down, but they came out with a balanced attack yesterday and took it to the Mavs.

6 players in double figures, with 17 points the highest. That's a team right there.

Didn't hurt that Dirk Diggler was ejected either.
