Has old number #32 hung it up? Last I recall he was with the Marlins.

 

Could anyone have predicted how quickly Fernandez, Alvarez and Bere turned into wash-outs? What kind of shape would the Sox be in inow f JR had agreed to long-term deals for those 3?

I haven't ever seen anything from Harris that would lead me to believe he's anything but a utility player. Maybe another Mark McLemore at best. I guess you could do worse though.

I like having a veteran catcher with playoff experience on the team. Josh Paul is as overrated as Willie Harris. Neither will ever amount to much in the majors.

If the Sox keep 3 catchers on their active roster, Jerry and Kenny both deserve a punch in the neck.

I'd love it if they picked up "The Gambler," but I read that Boston is also looking at him, and you know they'll give him more money than Chicago will. Based on his not accepting the Texas offer because he thought he could get more $$$, he'll probably go to the highest bidder.

I don't like this trade for a few reasons:

 

1) I don't like the idea of the Sox starting the season with a 75% new infield, including two people (Jimenez and Crede) who have yet to play an entire season in the majors.

 

2) I'm not sure I'd trade Rollins for Jose straight up, not to mention throwing in our best pitching prospect (arguably). Sure, Jose's defense is pretty bad, but he plays hard, he can hit, and he can play a number of different positions. Rollins had a great rookie season, but was a disappointment last year, so the only things I give him an edge over Jose on are base stealing, which I don't think is necessary to win, and defense. Is trading one of your only reliable left-handed bats, plus your best pitching prospect worth getting a defensive upgrade?

 

3) I don't think Rollins puts the Sox over the top. At this point, any moves KW makes that give up potential future stars should be focused entirely on getting players that clearly put the Sox in a position to really do something this year Get a CF who can bat leadoff for Rauch, or a proven left-handed starter, but don't waste him on upgrading your defense at the expense of run production at one position.
