Critics seem to love the fact that they did the unexpected...
Made the focus be firmly placed on all those individual characters, and the ultimate sacrifice the previous episode tipping the political tug of war to Toranaga's site with almost no blood being shed (the very opposite of the samurai/warlord mentality about honor coming from the battlefield).
The cinematography alone was amazing.
And leaving lots of little clues about our main character without even telling you whether he eventually ended up in England or stayed in Japan for the remainder of his life, very faithful to the spirit of the Clavel novel if not the actual execution.
Not sure what you mean. He was clearly back in England as an old man.

I find it hard to believe too, however, there is zero chance these guys play anywhere close to .500 ball the rest of the way so its going to be close.
Oh, I agree. 100 is all but guaranteed at this point, and things aren’t looking up in any regard.

If they manage to play .500 ball the rest of the way they still wind up losing 90. 😬
I still find it hard to believe that we’ll break the all-time record, but things like this make me think twice.

Actually, looks like the Sox are in last place with 139 total hits for the year, a solid 10 behind the Twins in 29th place. Arizona leads with 227.

I feel bad saying this but Jerry needs to get horizontal. Soon. Sorry
He’s pushing 90 and it’s 9:30. I’m sure he’s been sleeping for at least 2 hours.

Please don't win, I don't want to make a thread tomorrow.
Good news! You’re off the hook.

Haven’t used a stats site in-depth in quite some time. Can anyone check how few hits the Sox have as a team compared to others? I also wonder what the fewest hits in a season were.

Its amazing how any fly ball is just out of Benintendi's reach
Seriously. That ball hung in the air for 3 solid minutes.

But they could have given him extra rest
The second start of the season, I believe they skipped one of the regular starters to have Crochet pitch on normal rest. I pointed it out at the time. Seemed like a needless mistake.

Oh, so Crochet isn’t good. Glad that’s official.

The Andrews Sisters go down to start the inning.

But he's 5-11!!!
"Ok, we wound up 5-11! Not very good! But there was some worse 'un us. I guess that's one positive way to look at it, we weren't the worst team in the league. But it wa'n't very good. And we're disappointed. And offseason's here, so we'll try to regroup. And try to make this team, this franchise better" -Steve Spurrier
Seriously move Lee up in place of one of the Andrews
The Andrews Sisters! Is that a nickname we can use? Little dated, sure.

Maybe Hawk can come back in a managing role.
I miss him. We all miss him. Ratings would increase.
Nothing will increase the ratings. These last few seasons have done irreparable damage to this team that I’m not sure ownership fully understands yet.

I was kind of let down by the end of Shogun. Knowing how the battle happened in real life, I was disappointed with the changes even though I know it’s only loosely based on the actual history. A lack of action also sucked, although I expected little action due to TV constraints.
-
Opted to watch the finale of Shogun instead of this game. Looked up the score after finishing the episode, and LOL.

Just in case anyone was wondering.
They are bad at the thing Getz said they'd be good at.
Also, they were 25th last year.
That’s actually pretty awesome. It’s a stat we haven’t regressed in this season.

He really brings in the crowds.

One thing I don't want to hear is they are not getting the breaks. Besides, good teams tend to get breaks, and then take advantage of them. And Stoney: Stop complaining about the umps. The Sox are not losing because of bad umpiring. They've been outscored 31-7 during the last four games. Sounds like the Bears getting trounced.
Yeah, he’s definitely Hawk now.

The excuses you make for Vaughn fall on deaf ears. He needs to hit like every other player.
A hard-luck loser is still a loser.

This season of futility and negative records would be bad enough if you thought that there was any chance of a phoenix rising from the flames and a competotive team would emerge for 2026 or 2027, but the reality is that once you put out the flames there will just be a paper bag of sh*t on your step.
Don’t put it out with your boots, Ted.

Isn't there a specific amount of time required before he can be called back up unless filling in for an injury? Pretty sure they have to wait more than a few days.
I’m sure Eloy will be back on the IL in that timeframe.

Yes it was ... I remember one dude who used to hate Esteban Loaiza really bad and called him a choker.
I assumed for a minute you meant me, but he was before my time on Soxtalk.

I’m perfectly fine with him or anyone trashing the franchise. They are trash.
