QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2013 -> 05:48 PM) Makes me think trading Peavy at mid-season before he wears down in the 2nd half wouldn't be the worst possible thing in the world, because he gets the Sox the highest amount back in return. Especially a contending NL team, maybe the Rockies or DBacks, that need another veteran pitcher to get them over the hump. Nobody else would get much back. Dodgers. Puig. lol

MAY IS HERE!
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 1, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) I really like Axelrod. He doesn't have a high ceiling, but he definitely has the ability to be a solid 4th starter. Anymore, I'd prefer him to Floyd in the rotation. I would be more surprised by an Axelrod implosion than I would be by a Floyd big inning, that's for sure. I'm always waiting for the wheels to come off with Gavin on the mound, no matter how good he looks at times.

I thought Lexi's DP last night was sick -- check out this one by Lawry... Lawry DP

MAY IS HERE!
Please don't take this comparison the wrong way, but Axelrod is a pitcher in the sense that Greg Maddux was a pitcher. Not over-powering stuff, but he pitches with a lot of movement and deception. I think he's still got room to grow and improve. And he's shown some real grit on the mound. Dude's a competitor, and he may surprise us all.

MAY IS HERE!
Take a deep breath, exhale, and say goodbye to the worst month of southside baseball in some time. Screw you, April 2013 There's no way the defense remains this bad. The talent in the bullpen is for real. There's no way the ineptitude with RISP remains this bad. The weather in Chicago has been absolute s*** - this will not last. Beckham, Viciedo and Johnny Danks are coming back. And they can even bring Gavin, if they want. There's no way the same coaching staff who did such a masterful job of bringing this team together last year has now given up or lost their ability to make this a focused bunch. Would you rather have a crappy April or a crappy September? They got their bad month out of the way. And the biggest positive I can offer you: HOW IN THE HELL CAN A TEAM WHO PLAYED THIS BAD BE ONLY 10-15 AND ONLY 5 BACK? They've actually played better than the Angels and Toronto, two teams expected to dominate this season. My eye is on one of the WC spots, will be all summer. Let's get this s*** started already.

I didn't honestly expect to beat Darvish tonight....but still...wow. Just wow. Never seen a team that can just go south so fast and so far.
