  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) Did anyone post this article yet? So now that he didn't respond, he's the good guy? Did we forget who started this? Both KW and Frank took shots. To say Frank is suddenly the good guy is ridiculous.
  2. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) They were petulant. They were whiney. They were not even comparable to what KW said. I love this defense. 'It's my opinion you think that way.' Well, I can say for a fact that that's a dumb opinion. I personally don't understand how anyone who's been a Sox fan for years can seriously consider not applauding him when he returns, but I have enough respect for you to not suggest that you're not a 'real fan'. I expect the same in return, especially on a board of ALL SOX FANS. You don't have to show anything, but it's a pretty funny argument if you don't. 'I really, really think so.' So now my opinion is stupid? And that's a fact? Because i disagree with yours? Please. I just gave you the reason why I will not give him a standing ovation. In summary, i support the sox before i support a player, doesn't matter who it is. If they take bitter sides like this, i side with the team, especially after Frank started this crap. To me, it's not both.
  3. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Hey, I speak the truth.... It was the finest college basketball game that Ive ever witnessed. Illinois should have the trophy right now if they didnt die by the 3 so badly in the title game. Besides May, Illinois had the talent and should have won that game. Ive never been so jacked in March in my life, and that even after a first round loss to Bucknell. Just because Bill Self is the Kansas head coach, and Illini faithful love to hate them, doesnt mean I have to hate Illinois. I am actually very fond of their program and future. This March may be a little shaky for them, but I really appreciate the way theyve re-built their program into a potenital perrinal powerhouse. Theyve come a long way from their 'bruising ball' with Lucas Johnson. Things have worked out fairly well for the Illini faithful considering nothing can be taken for grnated in college hoops over this past decade. Self made the table, Weber has done a fine job in serving the meal thus far. Yeah, i was in STL for that one, and we did die by that three. I know we had the talent...but UNC had more. We had the better team, but talent beat us that night, if that makes sense. That's another reason the loss was frustrating.
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) You can't state that I support the player over the team, as you characterised everyone who disagreed with you. B/c that's crap. I support the play of the team on the field. I don't support childish, pointless rants by the front office. Show me one post, just one, by anyone who thinks that supporting Frank Thomas is more important than being a Sox fan. If you can't, then use a different argument. Frank's comments weren't childish? Plus, it's my opinion...that's why I, yes I, choose not to root for him or give him that standing O. I don't have to show you anything.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) You suck. You swallow?
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) Paul said something to the effect that the organazation did a lot for him last year. Which I agree with somewhat. Besides that, he hasn't had anything bad to say. "I never got a chance to ask those questions [before]," Konerko said. "I've never really had a guy that I could look up to on my team that you know I could gain a lot of knowledge hitting-wise. "We have a great coaching staff, hitting-wise, with Greg Walker and Harold Baines. There are a lot of guys who have been great hitters and been in big games. But there aren't too many hitters I've been around who have been older and who I've seen eye-to-eye with."
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) That's what I'm talking about. Players and coaches have had nothing but good things to say about Frank. Yet Kenny makes the "my players" and "my staff" hate Frank blah blah blah speech. Nothing but good? Paul Konerko with the indirect jab at him the other day.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:44 PM) I sure did. Backed up and ran over his sorry butt again, too. But I stood and cheered him when he took the field at the cell. "Thanks for what you did while you were here". Yeah, i know you did. Not everyone did what you did, i don't believe. Just pointing that out. Steff i respect your opinion, we just disagree. But at least you have logic there, instead of "i love frank, period" like some of the other posters.
  9. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) You know someone is being self-righteous when... Well, pick any post. Oh no i can't state my opinion and say i support a team over a player because i disagree with you? Good stuff.
  10. You know what's funny... Nearly everyone threw Maggs under the bus last offseason.
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Mike Wilbon: "Frank is in an urn." Classic. Oh wait, two other journalists say Frank brought it on himself. What's the count up to? And these are all unbiased guys.
  12. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) WOW is that a load of bulls***. I root for the team on the field. And bringing back Frank would have been the wrong thing to do for the Sox. That doesn't mean I have to root for the GM when he's being a complete asshole and absurdly overreacting. Stop f***ing questioning if those who disagree with you are fans of the White Sox. It's a sad f***ing argument. LOL. You know you've pissed off another one when they start throwing the F word all over the place.
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Who is he ripping? The guy just wanted a little more respect. Did he go about it the right way? Probably not. Now what Kenny did yesterday was ripping. He wasn't ripping the sox organization? I'd like to know how he's supposed to get respect after he's gone. Hell, no one said a damn word about him til yesterday. Respect? I think Frank got enough, and was very unappreciative. See: First pitch
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) I'm not mad at all. Confused. I don't ever expect to see or hear fellow fans such and you two acting anything but respectful towards what someone has done regardless of the bulls***. The guy was the Sox for 13 years. He should be thanked for that and that alone. I know you don't like this argument, but team > player. I can just turn blinders on and not pay attention to him ripping the team i love a new one. That's just not me. I can't ignore it, many here can. That's how it goes.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Ok.. so you just came into the thread supporting him to talk s***...? Wow. Things sure have changed. Past tense.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Was I speaking to you..? I assumed you were since you were disagreeing with me and aboz this whole time. If you weren't then my bad.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) C'mon Boz.. we all know how you feel about him. That would be like me posting over and over and over again how I feel about Willie. Once, twice, or even 57 times like you've done today is good enough.. By the same token, we can say that we know how people feel about Frank. For the record, i have never hated frank through the years. I thought it was sad how he had to leave, but that's business...but after this offseason, the tune has changed, sorry.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Just stop. You're making an ass of yourself. We're actually making valid points, not sitting here saying "frank sucks." That's a better argument that what most people are putting up here, which is "he hit the ball well in the mid 90's"
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Of course they have... They stated their case and got told to check the stats, consider his attitude, etc, etc... As I just told you via email, fans cheering him - as well as any other player who's left here is their way of saying thanks. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. If Kenny has a problem with that then he needs to grow a pair. See i don't even think the stats should really matter, that's just me. Because if it were another player who did less, people would be flaming him and no one would be supporting him. But since he was a good player, he gets a pass? It's a double standard.
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Who the hell is telling you such a thing...? No one's supported Frank here? All i did was state my opinion, as has everyone else.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) And you fickle fans that want to act like a guy wasn't s*** because he unfortunately wasn't able to be part of a magical title run are even more comical. Will somebody please pull up some of the old "fire Kenny" threads from last September? It makes no difference what he did on the field (which hasn't been anything for a while). You should be evaluating this without statistics to remove bias.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Can't those who want to cheer just be able to without being told 5000 reasons why not to...? Can't those who don't want to be able to do what they want without being told Frank is Jesus?
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Well to be fair, people are going to stand by the GM who built a team that ended nearly 9 decades of failure, as opposed to a guy who has a rep for being a b****y diva superstar. It may not be fair, but that's how the 2 look right now. People will stand by the name on the front, not the name on the back... I could care less if we won 10 games last year, that wouldn't make this any different.
  24. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Everyone BOW down in front of the great Frank Thomas. You Thomas slurpers are comical. Maybe someone should start frankthomastalk.com
  25. I have no problem with what KW did. I think people are tough to evaluate this because it's Frank, and they are biased. What if Damaso Marte made these comments? Yeah it's not perfect because Marte wasn't amazing on the field, but that's irrelevant in my mind. It's still just a former player trashing an organization.
