  1. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 04:47 PM)
    It was an amazing achievement; very cool and artfully done. However (and I feel almost guilty mentioning this), as soon as I became aware of what the director was doing, my experience as a viewer was jarred; I started consciously watching for how they were doing things technically, instead of just watching the action as it unfolded. To that extent, it was almost a distraction; the director may have better served his story by not "showing off" like that.

    You're a total outlier. The average viewer wouldn't really pick up on that. I work in TV and have edited for years and I was so entirely consumed and enthralled by the scene that I didn't even realize it was continuous until someone brought it up to me the next day.

  2. Any hotel suggestions for a night in Old Town Scottsdale?

    I'll be there from Feb 28 - Mar 3 so I have four full days. All in all, I want to do a game at Camelback and a game each at the AZ/COL complex, the SFG complex and the Cubs complex.

    Additionally, I might hit the Suns game Friday, Coyotes game Sunday, make the drive to Sedona, and hike Camelback Mountain. With lots of sun/pool/beer mixed in.

  3. Gotta say, I've never been in love with the idea of taking a PWS every day but the proof is in the pudding. The results are there. Since I've begun taking it more regularly, I've really seen improvements across the board. My workouts are more intense, I get less fatigued and my endurance is so much better.

    If you don't go to Sam's number 3 you missed out. Best breakfast in Denver.

    Go down to LoDo for dinner and there are tons of places to eat.

    Hodson's and LoDo's were both absolutely delicious.

    Denver on Super Bowl Weekend was the best trip ever.

    3 weeks til Phoenix

  5. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jan 28, 2014 -> 03:29 PM)
    It's a great idea to travel if you can. I just finished studying in September and have been travelling a lot since then. Once I start working it will be a lot more difficult, so I just want to see the world a bit while I can. So far I've just stuck to Europe with Croatia (Dubrovnik/Plitvice National Park/Split), Paris, Iceland (Reykjavik/Southern Iceland), Czech Republic (Prague/Cesky Krumlov), Austria (Hallstatt/Salzburg/Vienna), Amsterdam, Belgium (Brussels/Bruges/Ghent/Antwerp) Barcelona, Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye, Swedish Lapland (Kiruna/Abisko + Stockholm) and Norway (Tromsø).

    Next I will be off to Thailand on Thurday. Just got my visa today that will allow me to stay for 60 days and I think I can extend for 30 days on top of that once I'm out there. It will be my 3rd time to Thailand and I have lots of friends there in Bangkok who I will stay with, but I hope to travel out to Myanmar or Laos/Cambodia as I have not had the chance to do that yet.

    Sweden and Norway were both northern lights hunting trips, which were amazing. We got incredibly lucky and managed to see the lights numerous times. It's quite a moving experience and something that I would highly recommend. Here's one of my photos of the lights in Tromsø:

    I got to see the Northern Lights when I was in Alaska in 2006. One of the coolest sights I've ever seen.

    Found out today that my buddy is moving to Orlando in a couple weeks, so that will probably be my next stop this year. Also have a friend in Fayetteville, AR that I'd like to visit.

    I just discovered this little gem, prices at the airport are jacked up. Enterprise has offices all around the area and prices are significantly cheaper. Not sure if that's gonna help you any.

    QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jan 28, 2014 -> 04:11 PM)
    You can always take the bus to the light rail to get away from airport car rental companies.

    Also, AAA cabs here in Phx has a $15 cab ride from the airport within 10 miles. Westgate is NOT within 10 miles, but many Tempe and Phoenix locations are within 10 miles.

    QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 28, 2014 -> 05:31 PM)
    Its been a while, but when I was younger I used to rent a car from a Ford dealership for very reasonable rates.

    Dollar.com seems to have some good rates based off the PHX airport location. And it doesn't look like they have an under-25 surcharge.

  7. Just booked my flight this evening! I'll be there early - from Feb. 28th through Mar. 3rd. Staying at my buddies house in Scottsdale and I'll be renting a car. This thread is gold. This is my first spring training experience. Can't wait.

  8. Anyone know of a car rental place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for someone renting under age 25? I'm 24 and it's a pain in the ass. I just want to have a car if I go to Spring Training.

  9. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 10:21 PM)
    Haha, solid. The year I was there, we had some guys falling off by the early evening. Just straight passed out in the bar - so we made them cab it back. We lost (and found) several people throughout the day. Out of our group of 11, only me and 2 other guys lasted until the bars closed.

    I lost my friends in the crowd at one point and just stopped walking hoping that they would eventually turn around and come back when they realized I was gone. Which is exactly what happened, albeit about 20 min later. Without cell phone service, you quickly realize how difficult it can be to find people in a crowd of a million people in such a confined area.

    Just bought my ticket yesterday. I'll be there the 12th through the 19th.

    And you're spot on with the crowds. It's overwhelming at times with EVERYONE wearing green. Thankfully, at 6'6, I'm easy to spot, or can see over crowds to find people. Can't wait to be down there again. We always make sure to hit up Tybee Island a couple times too.

    I leave for Denver this Thursday. So excited to check that city out again. And I'm still in the process of planning a Spring Training trip for sometime between Feb 26 and Mar 2. Airfare isn't bad, but a place to stay and a car rental is a challenge.

  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 02:06 PM)
    Just got done stuffin my fat face with Chipotle. Their guac is the bestest.

    Chicken burrito bowl (extra meat), both rice, both beans, mild salsa, roasted chili-corn, cheese and lettuce.

    Every. Single. Time.

  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 12:22 PM)
    I would do anything she told me to.

    I mean, I would, and I'd let her, but seriously, she's got huge titties. They're not the only pair on the planet. Let's put the boner away.

  12. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 01:48 PM)
    Nice. I knew you had been before, so I figured. I went 2 years ago but not last year. I'll be going again for sure this year. What a ridiculous time.

    Our first year, we were goners by about 8pm. Never even made it out to the bars after. We learned from our mistakes and last year we went from 5am to 2 am. It was epic.

    QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jan 15, 2014 -> 08:24 AM)
    I'm looking to get out there as well, let me know what your plans are maybe we can meet up!

    I'm trying to figure out options. I found dirt cheap airfare, but I'm going to try and coax my work into sending me for free.

  13. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 03:49 PM)
    St. Patty's Day?

    And yes, might as well travel as much as you can. I tend to do plenty of spur of the moment trips. One of the nicer benefits of being single. Just do whatever, whenever.

    Yeah, this will be the 3rd straight year in Savannah for St. Patrick's Day. That place is amazing.

  14. I'm bringing this back.

    I've decided that in 2014, I'm going to travel as much as possible. I'm 24, now is the time. I've already got trips to Denver, CO and Savannah, GA planned, and I'm in the process of planning another to Arizona for Spring Training and will also be going on a cruise this summer.

    In regards to airfare, Sweet Baby Jesus is Kayak an amazing website.
