  1. no, but it also makes the doctors refusing care slimy too. what i would like to know is whether or not the medicare payments covered the costs of the treatments (as in the doctors would not have lost money) and the docotrs still chose not to dole out care because johnny's parents have insurance that will pay more money for the same work or if the medicare payments were less than the costs of the treatment (as in the doctor loses money).

  2. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 10:00 AM)
So it seems that maybe the company wasn't all that bad financially, just looking for a scapegoat to get out of an expensive labor market and into a cheaper one. Damn, why didn't they move to Mexico and help my area out?

Seems that someone must have loaned them some money to buy the Iowa plant, or else they had a s*** load of cash on hand.

Some conspiracy theories say that BofA was the bank that floated the loan for the purchase of the Iowa plant.

  3. Apparently, G-Rod threatened to hold back $8M in funding from a not-for-profit children's hospital somewhere in Illinois, if their CEO didn't make a $50k campaign contribution.

acutally it turns out this 8 million was to give doctors more money for working on children because the Medicare (or is it cade?) payments were not enough for the doctors to treat children. So doctors were turning down care to children in need of it, because they could make more money treating people who actually had real insurance. It was to go to an organization set up by Children's Hospital and other child care providers in the state.

  4. I thought I read somewhere that the owners of this company, formed a different company and built a new factory in Iowa.

Upon further review: here is a link to a google search:

figured I would post that instead of cherry picking a certain article. This whole things smells fishy.

EDIT: to post a link where I actually spell "windows" correctly.

  5. Ok after searching through the last 20 pages of threads, I figure this is as good as any to post this in....

At the bottom of Mark Gonzales's article about Beckam and the AFL, he adds this about DJ's future:

Extra innings: Commentator Darrin Jackson will meet with officials from the new MLB Network this week, and a decision on his status probably will be finalized by the end of next week. Jackson tentatively is scheduled to switch from television commentator to radio analyst for Sox games for the 2009 season. Jackson has worked the past nine seasons on Sox telecasts with Ken Harrelson. If Jackson stays with the Sox, he will be the third partner in as many years with radio play-by-play announcer Ed Farmer.

Seems like, as of now, DJ is slotted to move to the Radio Booth for us. So Rally DJ can stay. :uhoh :cheers

If this was already known sorry about the bump.

  6. OK not sure if this was posted but from Jason Stark:

Braves catcher Tyler Flowers (.394 AVG, .463 OBP, 1.014 SLG, 12 HRs in 71 ABs): "Big, strong, raw-boned guy. Very powerful offensive catcher. Defensively, needs polish. But better agility than you'd think he'd have. I'm not sure what they're going to do with him, with [brian] McCann there. But he's a player."

  7. while not happy, i am not sad either. kinda empty a little bit.

i mean going into this season, i didn't expect anything. i think i even picked us to finish 4th in the division. but come may and june, i started to taste the "pie" again. then starting to suck in september sucked ass. but coming back and doing what no other team in history has done (3 wins against 3 different teams in three consecutive games) was probably the 2nd best Sox feeling I have had in my life (the first was the whole 2005 season rolled into one). then to play this series and have our offense basically roll over, was kinda disheartening, but expected. its like i am in purgatory, where i can't feel horrible (like cub fans have to feel right now) but i also can't feel happy (like rays fans). its weird.

Junior is was fun seeing you in a Sox uniform. Here's to you: :drink :cheers :notworthy
