  1. I LOVE THIS POST!!!! Finally someone has come out and made some sense about this season. Someone's got MARBLES! Look this team is going to be dreadful to watch. Seriously, dreadful! How can anyone compare this to the 2005 season when we added speed, pitching, and defense! The 2005 team had five starters going into the season. We had Beuhrle, Contreras, Garland, Garcia, and Hernandez. We also added Luis Vizcaino to our bullpen for depth. Then we got rid of Lee and Ordonez. We added Podsednik for speed, Iguchi for defense and hitting, and Dye for hitting and defense. We had a team then. Now we have maybe 3 starters, inexperienced bullpen, and a lineup that we are going to count on to win games. The spring has told the story to this year. If Ozzie send our team to the minors to take on a double a team, you know we are in trouble. This team has no heart or confidence I believe at this point. And finally Kenny and Jerry what did you do to this team???????? We buy more tickets last year than any other year. The division is weaker this year more than last. We were literally one player short last year from winning probably another title. And you pissed it all away!! Thanks again Kenny and Jerry!
  2. THIS AND THAT • The Marlins were one of several teams on hand to watch outfielder Shannon Stewart provide a private workout Friday at Miami-Dade Community College. Stewart, who turns 33 next month, could be considered an option to play center field. But he has played just 98 games at the position during a career that began with Toronto in 1995, none since 2000. And he has been plagued by ailments in both feet in recent years. A career .299 hitter with 102 home runs, Stewart was limited to 44 games last season with the Minnesota Twins. He also was being scouted by the Mariners, A's, Rangers, Angels, Reds, Padres and White Sox. Could be another decent option off the bench or starter in left field?
  3. I know he has been injured a lot for the past few seasons. They could easily sign him to a deal that includes incentives for at-bats. When he is healthy, he is one of the best at drawing walks and getting on base. He also is a pretty good left fielder. Way better than Pods!!
  4. Go through with the trade for Santana and Figgins for Garcia and Crede. Then trade Scott Podsednik, Brian Anderson, and Ryan Sweeney for Carl Crawford. This would answer the top of the lineup problem we had last year, put a really good center fielder out there, and make us a base stealing team. Crawford Figgins (put him in LF, couldn't be worse than Pods) J. Dye Thome Konerko Pierzynski Iguchi Fields (Leave him at 3rd) Uribe Pitchers Beuhrle Contreras McCarthy Garland E.Santana No one could stop that 1-5 punch in the lineup.
  5. 1) I am going to say Jermaine Dye's solo HR against the BOSOX. 2 out and facing the unhittable Papelbon at the time. Then the Sox go on to win in 19 innings. I was there!!! 2) Sox trailing Houston by 7 runs late and Iguchi hits the granny in the 9th...Can you believe it? 3) Cintron's 3 run HR against Detroit at home in the 8th inning to give the Sox a lead and a win. 4) Pablo's HR against Guardado in the 9th with 2 outs and Sox go on to win.
  6. After the game yesterday on Detroit's Sports report, Konerko stated that throughout his career in Chicago he has never seen this team so banged up. Also stated that this team is really tired right now. Finished his comments by stating that it's not an excuse, but a shorter offseason does take a hit on you. I have been hearing about this for the last 3 weeks. Why would you go on about this when you know the opposing team is listening to your comments? This team over the entire second half has grounded into more double plays and taken less walks than anyone in baseball. They have swung at so many pitches out of the strikezone. Over and over pitchers keep jamming us in and we keep grounding out. Earlier in the season we would take a pitch, wait for the one down the middle and not miss it. They do look tired, but isn't that why they get paid the big bucks.
  7. Sox will be back next year. Key moves in my mind... Pods gone, Uribe traded...Jimmy Rollins signs with the Sox. Fields gets an opportunity to start in left after an awesome spring training. For some reason the untouchable Brandon McCarthy I strongly believe will be traded away...The devil rays said they would have to have Brandon. How about a trade that would send Brian Anderson and Brandon McCarthy to the Rays for Crawford. 2007 Lineup Crawford Rollins Dye Thome Konerko Pierzynski Crede Iguchi Fields 2 out of 3 years???
  8. I think the comments he made were right for this team. They have been underperforming, they do suck right now, and he's frustrated just like us! This team has given up and to be honest they don't care. They are all making their money, the big bucks in which we give them everytime we go to a game and just want them to play hard. Look at Minnesota and Detroit! Every ball that is hit, they hustle down the line even though it is a sure out. When is the last time you saw this team hustle down the damn line?
  9. I was watching the game last night and heard Hawk say that the 2006 Chicago Whitesox cannot come back when trailing in the later innings. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that the first half of the season we had so many come from behind victories that put smiles on all of our faces!!! What the hell has happened to this team?? Jim Thome strikes out everytime he comes to the plate! Paul Konerko and his 12 million dollars has over 22 ground ball double plays, Scotty Poostink has been caught stealing 20 times and cannot leadoff, Jermaine Dye throwing flat footed to the plate, Rob Mackowiak looks like a minor leaguer, terrified in the late innings, etc. etc. Is it me or do the umpires have a different strikezone for our pitchers compared to the opposing team. A question for all of you, what is the most disappointing factor to this season? 1) Being 21 games over .500 and 2 games out of the wildcard and 4 out of the division. 2) Ozzie's managing of his pitchers and bullpen. 3) Jim Thome's terrible second half and Frank's great second half. 4) Sox making no moves to their offense at the trade deadline.
  10. How bout this lineup!! LF Soriano SS Cintron DH Thome 1B Konerko RF Dye 2B Iguchi C Pierzynski 3B Crede CF Anderson Change would be GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOd!
  11. I am a new member to soxtalk and I have been following this team all season long. It seems to me that Ozzie is losing the respect from his players. Look at Sunday for instance...Yelling at Garland in front of everyone, in front of the cameras! I mean come on, you do that behind closed doors, you don't do that in the middle of a crucial game. I know Ozzie is trying to make a point, but with the whole Mariotti thing, the Tracey thing, the Garland thing, and then Kenny saying on national television that he could lose his job. I am a die hard fan and I think we all know that when your boss lights you up, you don't want to work! I am not throwing Ozzie under the bandwagon because he brought us a World Series championship last year. But he has to realize that baseball has changed and you have to gain the respect from your players if you want them to perform!
