I just think he is. He showed flashes of what he could be his rookie year if he cut down on his strikeout numbers, and he did. He has power and crazy speed, he hits a ridiculous number of triples. Plus he's a highlight reel on defense. I'd be surprised if his numbers declined, or weren't something close to 2007.

 

I think Sizemore = Granderson btw

 

Granderson was 6th in the AL in strikeouts last year....Not that they mean anything but he hardly cut down on them

The thought is good but its already been done, far better than anyone here could hope w/o putting months and maybe years into their formulas. Its called EqA and VORP is good too, WARP is even better because it has defense.

FRAA consistently puts Buehrle at like 2-7 FRAA and Garland at 1-2 which means they're both good but Buehrle is better. Rowand was a better canidate than Hunter in 2005, better than Vernon Wells too but he was just slightly above average so I'm sure if I looked I could find that he didn't deserve to win either. For example, Ichiro was better and Podsedniks 2005 defense was by far the best I've seen in the AL that year.

 

The 2005 AL OF Gold Gloves should have been

 

Randy Winn (SEA) 13 FRAA (split between LF and CF)

Jaque Jones (MIN) 12 FRAA

If it's so easy to divvy out the blame/recognition then how much of '05 was Ozzie's doing? I didn't realize it was so easy to figure out how much of an effect a manager has on a ballclub's success, are the good seasons good because of the manager and the s***ty seasons s***ty because of the players?

 

I just don't think giving a manager a contract extension during one of the worst season's in club history is a very good idea.

As painful as it is to see how far they've fallen, the feeling of 2005 is worth it even if they never get there again.

 

Think about Astros fans - their team is every bit as bad as the Sox are right now, and they have a 4-game Series loss to remember from 2005.

I'm thankful for the 2005 trophy no matter what happens in the future. Of course I want them to return to the playoffs and win a few more Series, but if they don't it doesn't tarnish the memory of 2005 to me one bit.

 

 

The Astros still have Berkman, Pence, Oswalt, Lee, Lidge, Qualls to fall back on. They'll be a lot better once Everrett, Biggio and Ausmus stop being automatic outs in the lineup.

The cubs are not the old whitesox. They have no pitching outside of one pitcher. Think more of the 2004 whitesox. They wont advance too far in the playoffs. So dont get them in a bunch over this.
