Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
This is not a stunt. No way would KW let everyone in the damn organization talk in public and get egg on his face.

Just read this on Twitter. nyp_joelsherman: SD GM Kevin Towers' top aide, Ken Bracey, watched Clayton Richard's last start, gave thumbs up to include in Peavy deal 12 minutes ago from web

I don't know remember how Baseball Tonight ended a broadcast with the Dye for Bailey trade? Stranger things have happened then ESPN being wrong, but everyone? Really?

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) it's odd that ESPN 1000 haven't changed their updates and in the one 2 minutes ago didn't include the SD paper report that it's not going down and just said everyone is still waiting on Peavy Crasnick is talking it down. f***.

This is becoming a fiasco.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (WCSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Dunno, but I'm shocked that Kenny could reportedly get them to agree to terms and still hold onto Beckham. The Padres really like Rule 5 pick Everth Cabrera, but yeah, it is weird how quickly Beckham was removed from the talks.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Does anyone know any big names who exercised their no trade clause in the past? I am preparing for a major heart break and don't want to feel alone. Jim Edmonds to our Sox i believe.

Any chance one of you can call into the Score, and make Sox fans sound intelligent?

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) I think I'll be fine whether or not this deal goes down. At least, we'll have proof that KW is trying.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) Just woke up 5 minutes ago. I turn to ESPN news and see the Peavy breaking news. I almost croaked. I'm not about to read through 36 pages. Can somebody just answer me is the only obstacle in this trade being completed is Peavy agreeing to it? Yes, he just needs to waive his NTC.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) Linebrink was just on the Score. Didn't really give you too much other then he talked to Jake last night. Linebrink is such a hillbilly, hehe. Peavy is a self-described Redneck so it makes sense.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
How badass could Poreda be in a Padres rotation? He could be slotted 3-4 like next week. The rotation would be Young, Richard, Poreda, Correia, Gaudin

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Would this be the biggest trade acquisition in White Sox history? I am doing some major brain storming here, I am stumped. coughMichaelDubeecough.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Okay, I go to sleep last night and its page 3 or 4...get to work and its page 34 and had like 7 texts that came through at some point in the night. Can someone please get me up to speed. Much appreciated (I will slowly be reading through the thread though). The deal is in place for Poreda, Richard and two prospects. Brinkey has sent in the good word to try to sway Peavy to waive his NTC.

You know what would be completely implausible, but sick? Anderson, Fields, Broadway, McCulloch for Oswalt.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Reddy @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) I know it's MLBTR but: 10:11am: ESPN's Peter Gammons says Beckham is not part of the deal. CBS' Danny Knobler says it would be Poreda, Richard, and one or two others. The others would also be pitchers, says Knobler. How awesome would it be if it was Broadway and Mcculloch?

2009 Cubs thread
I wonder if a Peavy deal would force the Cubs hand into making a move. Similar to how the Harden trade came a day after the Sabathia one. Hendry's a very reactionary GM.
