Also, didn't these guys really take pride in themselves for 2007 being almost 100% right? Like as a sign that they know what the Sox will always do? Even though they've been wrong most of the time? (or am I thinking of someone else who got full of themselves projection-wise)

 

If you go back and look at their analysis in 07 they were completely wrong. They projected a slight decline in offense and a giant decline in pitching. The opposite happened. Pitching was decent and offense was horrible. So they got the record right, but only because the exact opposite of what they projected happened.

Floyd always produces 4 to 6 weeks each season of absolute dominance. Since he hasn't done it yet, nw is the perfect time.

All I know is that I'll be happy if AJ is in the lineup Friday night.

 

As far as rumors, no player is above suspicion. No team is above suspicion. MLB made its bed in the 90's and early 00's, letting anyone do anything. And this is just bi-product of that era.

 

Wrong - there is no story. This started out of speculation because of his numbers and spread by haters, augmented by media and fans creating the back story from recent circumstances.

I don't doubt Ozzie being gone having a huge impact on this team's success, however, let's not forget the stranglehold on our offense that was Greg Walker is gone. Team is obviously hitting much better.

 

For instance, Alex Rios, if anybody saw, comcast showed his 2011 batting stance vs. the 2012 and they were drastically different.

 

Dunn obviously much better as well.

 

Ozzie was Walker's boss. Ozzie is responsible for his staff's failure or success.

I still don't get why so many people are saying this. I've people saying this on espn.com, Sports Illustrated, and here. The Tigers are giving up nearly 4½ runs per game, and they have a lot of games left against the top 5 offenses in the league (TEX, BOS, TOR, NYY, SOX). Their defense isn't going to get much better.

 

Now, something could always happen to cause the Sox to fall apart, but I don't see the Tigers winning more than 85-86 games.

 

The reason that the national media is saying it is because thus far, thier preseason predictions were horrible and lazy. If they admit they were wrong now, and the Tigers take over, then they were wrong twice. If they stick with their original projection - at worst they're only wrong once - and there's still a slim chance that they're right. And nobody really holds them accountable anyway.

 

I don't know how a real Sox fan can say this. If you can't believe in this team and what you see on the field right now, what can you believe in? Why bother being a fan if you can't enjoy your 1st place Chicago White Sox.

Funny that he addressed it in today's column. Very lazy here. He basically gets Paul Konerko to say that it wasn't as simple as a manager change, it was a change in organizational philosophy. Of course, Paulie isn't going to throw Ozzie under the bus. But even a 5th grader can interpret the meaning - this organizational change was not possible with Ozzie at the helm. One of Ozzie's favorite quotes was "The major league is not an instructional league" and "I can't teach these guys anyting". So there is no way that Ozzie would have gone along with the the reinforcement of baseball fundamentals.

 

Ozzie is managing a talented team this year (as he did last year) and it is like ground hog day. All the drama, egomania, poor results, throwing players under ther bus, outrageous proclamations, etc.

 

Ozzie was a great manager early in his career but he is a shell of that guy today.

I know he was reprimanded for the sexist tweets but he retained his employment as a columnist. I scrolled through his recent columns and they are extremely vanilla. Did he get fired from his appearances on the Score? Is he reverting to the fetal position due to his allegiance to Ozzie, seeing that Ozzie appears to be on the sinking ship, not the irrelevant White Sox? Just wondering if he has any visibility in Chicago now that the Guillen family is in Miami.

I think it's more abut indifference than hate. One analyst will do a superficial summary of the Sox and thousands will repeat it enough to make it seem true. Seriously, unless everything that could possibly go wrong with the Sox went wrong, no one with a brain would predict 67-95. But one dope made this prediction and everyone else fell in line.
