This dude has put in the work and has turned himself into an MVP level player. His work defensively is frankly mind blowing. An aging DH type is playing a gold glove 1B in addition to slugging: what more can you say?
FO nailed this one and happy to be wrong.
Depending on how things go in the postseason with the team, but Jose has the potential to be the real feel-good story for the game next month.
Lots to love here, both with his own performance and evolution along with how he is central to this team's current and future success.
He has a chance to shine a really positive light on this franchise nationally in a way we haven't seen in a long, long time.

If you were on soxtalk prior to this season, you would know. He was highly overrated around these parts prior to his MVP run this season.
No, no he wasn't.

As has been said many times, you get to the playoffs and then ANYTHING can happen. So why not the White Sox all the way in 2020!

Hard to believe but Robert is an automatic out lately.
The league has made an adjustment to our very talented rookie. But once he makes his adjustment to their adjustment, watch out!

Not an inspiring effort tonight at the plate, but it happens and winning 22 of 28 is still pretty awesome. Let's get a W tomorrow
Or let's get another W tonight. Two innings to go and only two runs down. Why not!

They got us right where we want them!

Our ace doesn't have his best stuff tonight. He's human just like every other ace in the history of the game. But what separates an ace from other pitchers is that when he doesn't have his lights out stuff, he's still able to keep his team in the game. Lucas has done just that tonight and has given the Sox a chance to win this game despite the fact he wasn't as dominating as usual.
Great job tonight, Lucas!

Nice play, Nicky!

This team is cool.

What an at-bat by La Pantera!

Nice win - again!

Steve Stone is just a damn good announcer. Such a pleasure listening to him.

Nice, Eloy!

That was one of the funnest games to watch this year. Eloy was HUGGGEEE! Yolmer played well filling in, bottom of the line-up picking up 3-6. Bullpen rested and pitched lights out.
Fulmer and Lopez go at it tomorrow, both are 2-3 IPs though hopefully Lopez figures things out and makes some progress.
The White Sox are now 1/2 game behind Tampa for the best record in the American League.
Hawk used to say, and I absolutely believed it to be true: “You are guaranteed to win 54, you are guaranteed to lose 54, no matter what. It’s what you do with the other 54 that matters.”. In latter years he’d bump up the guaranteed wins and losses to 60 each, but the concept still remained.
More importantly, what he was trying to describe what was what defined a winning ball club from a losing one, which would be how they’d fare in a game like ours tonight.
Our ballclub from the last decade would have found a way to lose tonight’s game. Winning ball clubs figure out a way to win a game like this tonight. This club found a way to win this game, which should give us all profound hope about the next several years with this team.
And yes, all this coming from the guy most critical of Jerry Reinsdorf. He’s still the worst.

I believe Carlos Lee hit that grand slam at our park, not Wrigley

Nice, Eloy!

Great at-bat by Nick. Spoiling a couple of real tough pitches, makes contact, and one in and one over. Love the contact!

Here come the Sox!

I know it's par for the course and easy to say "Oh god the Sox offense looks so bad, this guy sticks, blah blah blah" but sometimes, just sometimes.....the other pitcher is actually kind of good.
Casey Mize is very good, and has some great stuff tonight.
This is part of the fun coming out of the rebuild. As Stone mentioned earlier, we are going to see many matchups in the upcoming years with guys like Mize against our star, young hitters, and match-ups against our star, young pitchers.
This is a good thing. We are literally entering into a long-awaited window of excellent, competitive baseball, which will include playing against some other great talent in the league and division.

Sox hitters can use better discipline, but would say they are facing a very good pitcher tonight. Well pitched on both ends.
Just a good, ‘ol fashioned pitchers duel. There are nights when the pitching is going to be better than the hitting. Just sit back and enjoy!

Kopech update
in Pale Hose Talk
Posted · Edited by Thad Bosley
I could understand any fan angst re: Kopech if, in this abbreviated season with expanded playoffs, the Sox came up a game or two short of making the postseason. That is obviously not the case this season.
We should just enjoy the dance in 2020 with those who brung us, and then enthusiastically look forward to the elite talent infusion next season with both Kopech and Vaughn. It is downright scary (in a good way) just how talented this team can/will be once those two are brought into the fold, given how good we look now.
